He had a career best win last night too you know - and his style is MUCH more appealing to US fans and networks.....
He pummelled the boys against the ropes, it was an eye opening finish. People would pay to watch spike again
A few of those punches went in very late - almost in time for Spikes next fight. The ref was at fault.
Yeah the ref should have jumped in before the last 2 or 3 landed. One of the commentators called it a hard man's performance which I thought was great.
Never got the hype about Spike but he performed well last night and that win will open up alot of options for him.
You'd expect him to lose big time to GGG, Canelo, Jacobs, Charlo, but at 33 he might as well take one of those fights if offered.
Spike will fall short v the best in the division. But he showed last night he's plenty to offer, looks better than ever and deserves a good payday.
Spike cracks me up he such a funny fcuker...Loved it when Eubank Jr destroyed him and then made him apologise lol...but Spike did put on a good display and would be great if he did get a shot at one of the big boys..
I think any promoter would want Spike on their bill, he is very entertaining. I do dread to think of how he will be as he gets older cos he absorbs so many shots. He really broke Douglas’s will last night. He just kept chipping away at him until he crumbled. It was a great fight to watch. What a tough tough man though. Makes you realise how ferocious an opponent Eubank Jn is making him retire.
It was a very good win on paper away from home and I'm genuinely happy for Spike and hopefully it can be a springboard to a big fight and a very nice payday. But.. Douglas looked bang average, he was gassed after 5 rounds and ran out of ideas very quickly, I was very unimpressed with Douglas considering some of the things I read about him and he was the bookies favourite.
