Interesting question, and I believe that boxing history would be well represented by Russian fighters...I think they're naturals to the sport really. It's kina funny, but of today's scene, I can say that my 3 favorite fighters are Kovalev, GGG and Beterbiev...all from basically the same part of the world.
I mean, I knew that Beterbiev was good, that he could hit, but man, the guy looked like the Terminator of something...like burt said, an Alien...and believe me, this is good, all good.
On top of everything mentioned he showed great patience and poise in the ring, didn't go crazy when he had his prey hurt but picked his punches very well. Great composure for this 8th fight. Let's see how he steps up...
I have to agree that he has fearsome power and is a work in progress but he was in with a washed up Campillio....Campillio didn't use the skills we have seen before....mainly stood there absorbing and trying to block punches and it looked like was waiting for Biev to get tired hitting him but that obviously didn't work out. More fights against better opponents for Biev and we will see. He does look like a near future monster.
I think it was towards the end of the second round he cracked Kovalev hard..Kovalev buckled and didnt want no more for round 3 kovalev said he was gassed ..then reverted to running.. Ask Kovalev does Artur hit Hard? :deal
A lot of these Beterbiev fans are clearly Russian agents. There is no doubt. And Kovalev fans, and Klitschko fans and Tyson Fury haters "Lyudmila Savchuk says it was money that wooed her into the ranks of the Kremlin's online army, where she bombarded website comment pages" "Our job was to write in a pro-government way, to interpret all events in a way that glorifies the government's politics and Putin personally," she said. "While the blogs themselves would be filled with apolitical content about life in Russia, she was paid to use the account identities to comment on other news sites and online discussions, leaving 100 comments on an average day." http://news.yahoo.com/trolling-putin-russias-information-war-explained-063716887.html
Miguel Cotto beat 2 guys in the Pros who beat him in the amateurs. Many others examples also. Can't read to much into there past fight in my opinion.
Ehh! Not sure why people are so excited by "The Biev". Can punch but hes slow as molasses with both his hands and feet and his defense leaves a lot to be desired. Hes also 30 years old and its his 8th pro fight? He`ll be fun to watch but i dont seem him as an elite guy.
Dwyer hates him. Said Jeff Page had more pro upside after Beterbiev crushed him in 2. Also has a video up today bashing him and laments over Virgil Hunter's negative critiques of him. Evidently Hunter has "let the cat out of the bag" on how to exploit Beterbiev because he telegraphs his right hand with a foot turn.
