Crawford-Gamboa! That was the best fight I've seen since Trinidad-Vargas! You hurt me, I hurt you, you hurt me, I knock you out! Beautiful!
I picked the winner correctly but I was pleasantly surprised by how exciting this fight was. I thought it would be snoozer
It's not a great fight until the momentum switches several times. This fight had that and much more. What a fight.
At what weight? GRJ talked about moving up to 130 before he lost to Lomachenko. It would be a fun fight for sure, but Gamboa should outbox him fairly easily. Gamboa should've beaten Crawford if he was a bit smarter and a bit more active.
I was thinking 135 would be more beneficial to Gamboa, hope it really happens.... And also DOnaire-Lomachenko or Donaire-GRJ at 130. Lots of fight to watch out. The problem of Gamboa was the same Problem Tito Trinidad had, short reach.....
Best fight I've seen this year. Knew the result but decided to watch a replay on a whim. Very pleasantly surprised.
Short reach is a problem when it's combined with poor footwork and poor timing (GRJ) but it doesn't mean much when it's combined with good footwork and timing (Gamboa, Tszyu, Pac etc.). Gamboa's problem is that he stays in the pocket for too long without throwing or moving his head.
I don't think it was back and forth as you put it, Gamboa managed to slightly hurt Crawford once, Crawford put him down 5 times.
I'd advise you watch which ever of these you've not yet seen Rodrigo Guerrero Vs Daniel Rosas Yodmongkol Vor Saengthep Vs Takuya Kogawa Koki Eto Vs Ardin Diale Tommy Coyle Vs Daniel Brizuela Jaesung Lee Vs Takuya Watanabe Lucas Matthysse Vs John Molina Shuhei Tsuchiya Vs Leonardo Zappavigna Yoshihiro Kamegai Vs Robert Guerrero Travis Dickinson Vs Matty Clarkson Rex Tso Vs Mako Matsuyama Gavin Rees Vs Gary Buckland Juan Carlos Reveco Vs Felix Alvarado
It was a competitive fight, but Crawford made adjustments and from the 5th round Crawford gave him a Boxing lesson. I gave Crawford round 1, Gamboa round 2-4 and the rest is history.
