A habit that has crept into Anthony Joshua‘s game, since he lost to Andy Ruiz in 2019. In this video, AJ now seems to have developed a dependency factor on this – to feel comfortable, before committing to uppercuts. Joshua has a habit of making his big shots more predictable. Will AJ iron this out before the rematch, or will it continue to be a theme?

Usyk is craftier than AJ on the inside and the clinch.

I burst out laughing watching Usyk hustle AJ up close or the clinch. AJ nevers know where to put his head, feet or body. Watch Fury fight in the clinch, always knows where to be instinctively. You have to be able to fight small, big or head to head. AJ is a big stiff idiot.

Usyk always know where he is positionally when he is open to be hit or not. He has that Mayweather radar.

The only change AJ can make is hitting Usyk's arms...he needs to look at him as a heavybag not a person.

Joshua can change trainers, make subtle small adjustments, meet with the Dalai Lama to cleanse his spirit but in the end none of that fixes his suspect chin nor his muscle memory tendencies.

Joshua has been doing this one way for too long so he will most likely revert back to that muscle memory the second Usyk splits his face open with a straight left. Once that happens Usyk will do the same thing to Joshua he did before... take him into deep waters and drown him.

Fury holds and hits like AJ he holds after hitting so he can`t be countered.

Yeah, but I think he will go to the body next time with Usyk.

He knows he has a little chance in the first 4 rounds to hurt Usyk, but he has to take it.

Uppercut to the body from the start. altough usyk blocked it couple of times with his elbow :eaea:

    Interesting.
Usyk was dropped by bodyshots by Madzhidov and Beterbiev so who knows.

I love it when people say "so and so doesn't like it to the body". Who DOES like it to the body?
Not since Jack Johnson taunted Lil Tommy Burns to hit him to the midsection has anyone WANTED
to get punched in the gut.

    That is well and true.
But in the same time some guys shiw more of a vulnerability to the body than others.
Be it their life outside of the gym, eating habits or just a natural inclination it does happen.

You know, I've thought often that fat guys at HW can absorb more punishment to the body than
the smaller guys who have much lower body fat. Look at Fury, the guy has love handles. Maybe
    that cushions the blows.

AJ caught him to the body a number of times with uppercuts in their first fight.

AJ will not dare to do anything, he will keep his distance and avoid fighting...

Unfortunately for AJ, the trainer that would have helped AJ’s career passed away in 2012. Other than that I believed his peak was the Wlad Klitschko fight.
