What are his top 3 biggest problems as a fighter right For me it's Lack of head movement Lack of stamina Chin
His stamina fs. He could only do so much in a 12 round fight without gassing. I’d say his chin is 2nd. The rest of his problems aren’t terrible since he’s made it far and most heavyweights have basic styles
Lack of creativity He did show new ideas though He needs tougher and strategic sparring to reinforce it all though
Tantrums seem like his main problem. I think his trainers are too scared of him that he might throw an aggressive fit. Why did McCracken and Garcia both stay calm in his corner telling him he is winning? He needs that OG Manny Steward type trainer in the corner telling him to go knock that MF out.
Lack of amateur pedigree is a major one, as much as I'm not a fan. When guys like Andy Ruiz stand and engage in a firefight or Usyk rolls with punches and escapes trouble I believe that's their instinct kicking in. AJ doesn't have that. He could have come out in Round 10 and swung for the fences if he was willing to put it all on the line. Parker is another one like this. He faced a similar situation in his fight against AJ as AJ did yesterday. The fight was getting away from him and he decided ending the fight on his feet was more important than taking chances. Parker also had a very limited formal amateur career.
He's stupid and has delusional arrogance. Terrible combination. Intelligence does have a role in fighting. It may not be the main component but it can give people an edge at times. It allows a fighter to work out ways of defeating the opponent, even small things in the ring during the fight. Picking up patterns and exploiting them etc. Usyk is much smarter than Joshua. This came into play, it wasn't just about ''skills''. Both allowed him to overcome the size/power disadvantage. That's why Joshua was so confused at the end. He actually thinks he's smart (because he's stupid but rich due to the brains of Hearn and co.). Joshua couldn't work out how this smaller, less powerful fighter could beat him. It didn't seem right that it was just 'skills' because Joshua has a lot of learned boxing skills too. Usyk had another big advantage, it was the ability to outthink AJ in the fight. This will also be a problem for AJ versus Fury. It won't be a problem versus Wilder because Wilder is one of the few boxers AJ has a brain advantage over.
I always stated that Wilder would have KO’d him for these exact reasons. Yes Wilder has little to no boxing skills but he definitely knows when to time those right bombs. It’s especially easy when the opponent isn’t quick on the feet and lacks head movement.
Honestly outside of Uysk and Fury he beats pretty much everyone especially with how he fought Saturday. He simply got caught against Ruiz. Stamina was an issue against Uysk but you could say that it is for everyone that faces Uysk especially with the pressure Uysk applies. One thing I notice about Joshua is he gets hit a lot after he throws his straight right hand.
