His gas tank 100%, up to round 10 the fight was even, he was able to actually outbox Usyk at times and his defence was decent when he had the energy to move. He went for 1 sustained attack in the 9th and he was finished from then on. if he had the energy to do anything in the last 3 rounds and managed to nick 2 of them he wins the fight.
Having no heart is not the result of a limited amateur career. Some people just don't have an instinct to fight, especially when the person across the ring is giving as good as they're getting.
Yeah it's like asking what's wrong with Dillian Whyte. Nothing really, he just isn't #1. I'd like to claim some credit for my pre-fight prediction that it wasn't about AJ's weaknesses. Usyk revealed that AJ's strengths aren't strong enough. He fixed addressed a lot of the problems. He wasn't tentative, wasn't head hunting, and he arguably came on in the later rounds. He hit Usyk with everything he could hope to hit him with. Usyk's 35, 20lbs smaller than AJ, and after 24 rounds not even a KD. That's the core of the problem and I don't know what he can do about that.
Joshua looked good against Usyk, progress was seen, but his problem is that he falls during the fight, I guess the problem is his psyche...
Told my buddy this before the Fury/Wilder trilogy. Fury will always be better because he is a born fighter and Ruiz like you mentioned has the instinct and amateur background. I feel like Joshua and Wilder get hit and all plans and ideas go out the window. At least Wilder will try to windmill but Joshua just loses all composure. In the Pacquiao/JMM fights you saw it everytime, Jmm or Pac get hurt and they start moving around and throwing back, that’s how Ruiz got Joshua.
Joshua was twice ABA national winner 2010 & 2011 silver medal in 2011 world amateur championships & Gold medal in 2012 Olympics this is impressive amateur pedigree
Fair point, he had plenty of success in his short career. His 50 amatuer fights means he's now about 75 deep for his career. Ruiz Jr had 110 amateur fights, Usyk 350, Fury actually far less credentialed at about 35 but we know coming from a fighting family his education would have started early. I just think AJ missed those learning on instinctual things like being relaxed in the ring and firing back when under duress. They aren't things he can now learn at 30+.
