Why not against Pac at 154? At that weight Cotto would seemingly have an advantage. Pac already has a hard time killing his body to maintain weight at 147. Pushing himself up to 154 could be a huge factor. I'd love to see Cotto avenge both his losses before he retires. Both fights would bring in mega money. He did well against Pac when he was boxing and using his jab. Steward will make sure he sticks to his gameplan and not get out of character. He will also teach him how to clinch properly. That said, I kinda like Cotto's chances.

A lot of people feel Pac is clearly the better fighter at any weight. And that's a valid point. But I believe Steward can make a difference in Cotto, same way he changed Wlad and got him to start winning again. Granted Wlad hasn't had intense competition but both Cotto and him have a tremendous jab which goes a long way.

I don't like Cotto's chances against Martinez one bit. Sergio's counter right hook over Cotto's jab would spell disaster for Miguel. His chances against the other title holders would be significantly better.

Yeah, I'd rather see him take his chances against a blown up Pac than against Sergio, Paul, Angulo, Cintron, etc. All these 154 lb sharks are high risk/low reward fights. Cotto says he wants to fight the best fighters so that pretty much eliminates someone like Cory Spinks. I say Miguel should use his new title as bait for Pac. Either that or a match with Berto although I'm not sure if Cotto would go back down to 147.

That right hook is no joke. It's swift, from out of nowhere, and has some pop to it. I can see Cotto getting caught a few times with it. How he recovers is the main issue.

Personally, I think a Pac rematch is futile. I'm much more interested in Cotto rematching Margarito. Their dramtic back story ought to be settled once and for all in the ring, imo.

I can definitely see it carving Cotto's face up. He'd be well advised to stand clear of Martinez.

Martinez problem is that he fades in the middle rounds before coming on strong again at the end. This could be a problem against Cotto if he does his best work at that point.

His chances to unify are as good as anyone else.
Slim to none w/all the corruption in this sport it's almost impossible.

    Could he?
    I'd say prob not.

Sergio does tend to give away a couple of rounds somewhere around 6-9. But he doesn't just lay a gooseegg in those rounds. He just tends to conserve his energy a little more around that time, rather than fading parmanently due to fatigue. -Only looking to keep his opponent at bay with that hook.

Ths is what is so dangerous to Cotto. Because he also seems to fade around the 8th or so, but his fading is usually a little les voluntary. If he gets a little careless coming in, as he may do from time to time after gettinga little tired, he will get caught.

He's gonnatake some clean counter shots in this fight. You can bet your life on it. And despite Sergio not being known for his power, those shots aren't going to be of the Yuri Foreman variety. Cotto better put on his chin strap and be ready. If he can handle those clean bombs, he stands a decent chance.

I still don't see any particular advantages for Cotto in this matchup. Speed, power, footwork, defense, height, reach, skill, chin... Where are his advantages?

Cotto would beat the **** out of Cintron's stupid ass. :nono:nono
Did you just make some type of ****ed up comparison between Paul williams and George Foreman???? :patsch:rofl
You are right about Martinez though...

C'mon man. I never said Paul was George Foreman. But Cotto is also no Joe Frazier. I just honestly think their fight would go in similar fashion. A bigger, taller puncher taking out a more technically gifted, tough, smaller guy in emphatic fashion.

And as far as Cintron? That requires a different thread. Hold on...
