john david jackson is good he was trained by manny steward, but alot of the times he lets his emotions take over in the corner.
You're confusing Brooks with Benton, mate. Brooks and Shields worked with him at the same time, late on in his career.
Wasn't Brookes the guy with all the high tech training? Like the stairlift thing? I'm pretty sure he was the conditioning trainer for Whittaker, Taylor and Holyfield then later became a trainer for them.
no i know georgy benton, benton was also eddie futch's assistant, benton trained shields and worked alongside brooks, brooks was assisting futch fighters before he signed with lou duvas promotional company and became benton/duva's assistant.
Brooks has been around for a long time, he trained/cornered for Holyfield for a longer period as they had a good relationship, but that's besides the point. He didn't join the Whitaker corner till late, when Georgie Benton stepped aside and Duva needed a replacement to work his corner.
Cornerman would be a good book for this thread. Its a story of some of the best trainers. Also there was a Ray Arcel biography released not that long ago, that would be super interesting.
