I have to agree with Ray Ray and Brooklyn. Hearns has looked okay against limited comp, but it seems as if he is lacking that special something. I always got the feeling that he fought because his Dad fought, you know what I mean?

Brooklyn, I should have known you were a Detroiter. You gave props to some Detroit guys before.

Just Forget who is father is and take him on his own merits and he is a pretty good talent.

This kid is always going to have to live in the shadow of his father and its a little sad that how good he is gets compared to how good his father was.

I do not expect him to get anywhere near what his dad achieved but compared to other up and comers around 160-168 with his experience he is slightly above average. I would expect he can make it to the fringe contender level, after that I cant say yet.

he's struck me more as a future top 10 fighter rather than a world champion.

I've never compared him to his father...but the problem is,is anyone coming out of Detroit at middleweight has to live in Andy Lee's shadow...not Tommy Hearns.

Ronald puts in alot of hard work and he'll have his breakout performance soon. Lanardo Tyner is one hard hitting SOB and hes a definite contender. Ive seen both of them training at my gym,(steve forbes also works out there) and ive sparred numerous amounts of times with Tyner before he moved to Texas. Ronald has it alot harder then most fighters becuase of the constant comparison to his father. People need to stop comparing him to his dad and judge him based on his own merits. If u do that, then u have an undefeated fighter with a great jab and awsome power in his right. As far as the level of competition, no ones fights world beaters right out of the gate.

I agree with you. I've only seen him on T.V. once or twice on a card labled Next Generation but I was impressed.

Bee Gee, thanks for the insigt. I don't compare Ronald with his Dad when I watch him fight; I just try to judge him on his own ability. In the fights I have seen he has looked good, but not special. I hope you are right about a breakout performance coming soon; I'd love to see him become a champion and carry on the Detroit boxing tradition.

He moved in May. I think it was a family oriented move. He's got a promotor from Chicago and he's suppose to have a fight in september and he'll be back in the Detroit area to train for it. I keep in touch with him on a regular basis.

Still too new and I haven't noticed any major improvements yet, might take some time. Absolutely NOTHING like his great father though.

I think his biggest problem is that he's never going to get out of his father's shadow, which shouldn't be considering it's not fair for most guys to get compared to a top 5 ATG at Middleweight.
