What Are Floyd Mayweather Jr's Weaknesses?

Floyd may have been injured in that fight. Most fights involve some form of injury in a fighter, they rarely go through training camp and come into a fight 100%, that's just the way it is. Floyd fought as he normally would in that fight, he seemed to have no hand problems, so stop over-doing that excuse.

As for the fight, Castillo may have out-weighed Floyd, but it was his pressure that allowed him to get to Floyd in the first place. His inside skills weren't near as good as a guy like Chavez though, even if he knew how to get in on a mover. Chavez was far better than Castillo any way you slice it.

 

If you actually watched the Floyd/Oscar fight, you'd notice that A LOT of the punches getting counted for Floyd didn't land either, and were instead caught in Oscar's gloves, as he showed a very tight guard. Compubox gets it wrong with Floyd as well.

 

The main problem with this thread is that Mayweather has never been in serious trouble throughout his career. So we don't have an obvious gameplan to put him in trouble. The fighter who did best against him was Castillo in the first fight, but there were slightly odd circumstances then and Castillo took a beating the second time around.

So we are left looking at possible weaknesses rather than proven ones.

 

So I guess him complaining about his arm in the first, second round showed he was not worried about the injury. Rounds he won easily. GTFO>

I was actually going to mention that but forgot too. No way either Floyd or Castillo landed as many punches as they say they did. But as it stands, Castillo may have won the fight, but he didnt win the rounds, and in boxing thats all that matters.

Severe injuries sure, but not injuries where you're clearly able to use your hand for the entire 12 rounds. As a matter of fact, Floyd seemed to be more comfortable throwing his right hand as the fight progressed. Those first few rounds may have been uncomfortable, but once he got in his groove he looked fine. It's not like the Hernandez fight.

 

Nonsense. That was a totally different Mayweather. He didnt throw nearly as many punches off the back foot as he usually does. He couldnt throw his left jab as much as he wanted which led to him not being able to control Castillo in the middle of the ring, not to mention the pain he was under, which I believe as Foreman or Steward claimed, his house reeked with BenGay. Castillo was able to stalk Mayweather at will, not having to worry about Mayweather's jab, nor could Mayweather set up his right hand. AS you can see, it was obviously a difference in the second fight. Which despite the scoring being closer then the 1st fight, was a dominating performance by PBF.

 

Wait, Mayweather injured his right hand I thought. I know that was the hand he had injured earlier against Hernandez.

 

The same can be said of a guy like Rocky Marciano, but that doesn't keep people today from picking boatloads of fighters over him.

 

His left rotator cuff. He hurt his right hand against Famoso and Baldomir. As to why he kept his right had clinched against his chest as he does when he injures it.

Now ask yourself, is this a healthy Mayweather?

The only weakness Mayweather has is his hands. This has stopped him from throwing power shot combos over the years. When throwing a lot of power shots, he's injuried his hands. If u have watched every last one of his fights u would know this.
