What are opinions on Ricky Burns now

we either over-hype fighters or down play their ability and ricky aint getting the credit he deserves imo. he had to fight smart against katsidis but i reckon he had another gear that he didnt need to use to win, more to come though no doubt he'll be shot down when he finally loses

 

Burns HAS shown hes the man though Roe, a heavy underdog TWICE on brit ESB only to prove the doubters wrong not once but TWICE!

You have to beat the man to prove that you are the man, & Ricky Burns has done it TWICE now.

Therefore, Ricky is the man. It aint rocket science FFS

He hasn't been 'the man' twice at all. He's beat 2 good fighters, and they're two good wins, but not 'the man'.

 

So wallet, who in your opinion does Ricky burns have to beat to gain the respect of this forum?

Cos nowadays it seems that Martinez & Katsidis are bums cos Ricky beat them, its funny how english boxing fans can move the goalposts when it suits 'em:yep

 

top boxer his style isn't the best to watch which is why i think he doesn't get his dues, but he's the best Scottish boxer for years and has already achieved more than Alex Arthur. Get him in with the big fights!

 

He's got my respect, and I think he does have the respect of most on here. He's just not 'the man'. It's silly to claim he is.

Why is it so outrageous to call Ricky Burns 'the man' on brit ESB when he has come through two fighters this very forum heavily backed him to lose brutrally to?

Im a Burns fan, & it annoys me that i am expected to say hes a 'not bad' fighter when he has proven this place wrong not once, but TWICE.

It annoys me that the haters dont give Burns some credit for a change. People should man up here for once & admit Ricky Burns is the real deal.

Depends what you mean by 'the man'. I was assuming that you meant he's the top lightweight, which is nonsense.

You're too miserable to see anyone showing respect for him.

 

Dunky to be the man he has to beat JMM or Rios he performed fantastically well against Katsadis but that doesn't make him the man at his weight.

 

My opinion is hes going to get royally ****ed by Kevin Mitchell.

Come off it Dunky. Bit rich calling others haters when your pro-Burns rants are amongst the most biased on ESB mate.

 

Very impressed with his last performance, guy can box, good use of his reach and a nice jab, also loved the way he kept using his Hurtful uppercuts vs Kats.

People on here should give Burns a break he is a good boxer, I think he can mix it with anyone in his division.
