Thank you so much for you guys inputs. I found another gym and I love it my new coach has been working with alot finally learning defense, different combinations and more. That was best choice I made leaving that toxic gym.
I used to have The Leprechaun chase me around the ring trying to punch me. It helped. I was still pretty green at the time doe.
I’m a smartass, but I’d pick up my cell phone and call the coach while standing there a few feet from him and say ‘hey, figured this was the best way to get your attention, but I need some coaching over here.’ Seriously: You’re a grown-ass man. Talk to him. Say ‘hey, I’d like to try this masters boxing but I’ve been here a year, I’ve only sparred twice and I feel like I need some instruction on footwork and defense to reach that level. I feel like my dedication, along with the gym fees, has earned me some coaching time. Can we work this out?’ Don’t be confrontational about it and don’t call him out in front of other people, just say ‘hey, I need a few minutes to talk with you, can we step in the office (or outside or whatever)?’ Don’t be afraid to have an uncomfortable conversation … being in the ring against a live opponent is way more uncomfortable.
I laughed at my guy throwing down hard with some other cat. For me, it was the first time that I had seen him really setting and digging in. I was proud of the way that he was boxing. He ate some tough shots but I know all too well what it's like eating those sandwiches. I laughed at different points of that work. I was never prouder as he stepped out doe.
I would rather my name not be common knowledge to be spread around any site. Too much damage can come of it, Do you doubt my stories as well?
