What are some of the greatest passing of the torch fights?

Competitive fights where the older great/good man lost to the younger great/good man? any weight class

I think Wlad-Joshua was a terrific fight. Sure, Joshua isn't an elite fighter but he is still one of the best of his era.

Daniel Zaragoza vs Erik Morales, two judges had Zaragoza leading at the time of the stoppage and the fight was near even, counting the knockdown scored by Morales without that he must be trailing behind and his best decision may be a draw.

Either way Zaragoza really pulled all his championship spirit, experience toughness and tricks to fight the younger and fresher Morales,he looks like Duran at the moment,y'know? Tactical infighting with that cross hitting on point mostly, although Zaragoza tend to keep it stretched a bit longer I see.

I don’t recall it being competitive though? Perhaps ODLH v Floyd would fit into this category?

Pedroza - McGuigan, Eusebio fought his heart out but Barry wouldnt be denied.

Mike McCallum passed the torch of supreme technician over to James Toney. Not quite answering the OP but it seemed boxing had a new no1 clever fighter after their fights who could be less quick, powerful, explosive but used timing and feints to level the playing field.

Pedroza really had big balls for the fight, McGuigan's punches were quite powerful with that Irish pressure too,yet he's still standing, refusing to quit or such as a champion,a valiant end for the Panamanian El Alacran.:applaudit:

Most of Pedroza's opponents had really big balls after the fights. El Loblo might have been a better nickname.

Napoles vs Stracey is an awesome fight. Actually made better by Napoles being over the hill imo.

Chang vs Muangchai Kittasakem is an incredible fight. Like Napoles vs Stracey, it might not have been quite so fun if Chang was in his prime.

I think recently Juan Francisco Estarda vs Jesse Rodriguez fits the criteria of your thread.

    Some other notables ones....

    Pernell Whitaker vs ODLH
    Chris Eubank vs Joe Calzaghe
    Antonio Cervantes vs Aaron Pryor
