What are some of the most specific fightplans/weaknesses exposed you've seen?

What are fights you've seen in which a very specific counter, punch, directional movement, or other offensive/defensive tools were specifically designed for the opponent and bout at hand? I'm talking Schmelling "seeing something" in Louis, Frazier following Futch's instruction to conter Ali's telegraphed right uppercut with left hooks- particular technical details, that type of thing. Holes in the armor, Napoleonic game-plans, kryptonite counters, a single neutralizing punch; which ones stand out for you?

 

Tito's inability to deal with a conventional jab ala Winky Wright.

Pavlick's lack of a left hook being exposed by B Hop. He constantly moved to Kelly's left making it very difficult to land his right.

 

Lennox Lewis followed Steward's game plan(for the Tua fight) to perfection with his "lead right and hold" strategy.

1. That was the plan Marquez had already used twice. Back off so he can't plant his feet.

2. It's easy to make someone look bad when you have no intention of winning. Mosley showed a gamplan of how not to get knocked out, not how to beat Pacquiao.

 

JMM is definitely the originator of this tactic and Mosley was surely making it look easier by having close to no offense while circling, but it was still surprising to see him evade so many shots and make Pacquiao look so basic (which he really is not.)

 

I can't see that in any way as a tactic to beat Pacquiao. What JMM did was, because he put himself in positions to counter. Mosley just took himself out of range each time, it was survival.

 

Mosley said he had every intention of winning beforehand, but it was clear from the Mayweather fight that even if he could see openings, he didn't really have it in him to exploit them, at least not for long. Then he struggled against Mora. Noone gave him a hope against Pacquiao and they were right not to. He didn't have it in him and it was a payday.

 

exactly. If pac was LOSING rounds it would look more like rounds 11-12, he would press. there was no reason to press since he was winning rounds and was never in danger, so why not just win even if you miss? You are never in danger.


If Floyd started HITTING HIM and winning rounds, you would see a guy more like in rounds 11-12 when he got mad from the push/kd call.
