He put a great effort in the Briggs fight tho, which was his final one.

He was always game, and tough. Just so slow of foot and measured to a fault latter in his career. Still, he did things in his 40's most will never sniff in their entire careers, prime included.

Chavez went out pretty sad imo
However he still made piles of money in the way out…
Just as far as legacy imo.

Hard to feel bad for a guy making millions of dollars fighting glorified club fighters who had gawdy records, Like on what planet did Chavez need to fight Buck Smith?

Yeah , not sad as in feel bad for a millionaire
    but, sad legacy legend wise.
Once he realized he couldn’t get it done at the top level anymore.

That TKO / KO loss to
Tzsyu had to be soul crushing to a man realizing it’s over at the top level. (For a diehard Chavez fan it was hard to see
but it has to be exponentially worse for the man himself)

which is ultimately what lead to the retirement tour Mexican pep rallies fighting cans.

It's not a contest, somebody suffering more doesn't dismiss another's pain. Childish mindset, NOTHING CAN MATTER UNLESS IT'S THE ONE THAT MATTERS MOST!!!1!

You talking about someone else, Kelly Pavlik is alive and running a gym in Youngstown. Hopkins beat him easy, almost stopping him.

a year or so ago, i started a thread on primo carnera on this topic. it is well known that he started wrestling after boxing. he wrestled in the high school gym in the tiny, out of the way town of wilimina, oregon in 1947 which is 5 miles from where i live. would consider that a sad end.

Yes, you're absolutely right, he did, iirc he didn't take the same medication he took for the Holmes fight, which turned him effectively into a zombie.

However, I remember seeing footage of him training, and there is no way he should have been anywhere near a boxing ring.

The entire thing was a shambles, even down to the use of a cowbell due to no proper ring bell, and fighters sharing gloves.

The light had gone out in Ali's eyes as well.

"but it's good to see he bounced back and destroyed an ATG American HW even easier than the MMA strikers he faced."

I'm not sure Jake would have beaten a prime Tyson but it would have been a hell of a fight.
