What are some popular pugilistic myths that have been discredited(or need to be)?

    i agree!

one of the biggest rumors after roy jones was knocked out by antonio tarver was that roy jones had a glass chin and his ability hid it for his entire career. roy may have suspect chin now, but he was taking flush shots from toney, sosa and he even caught a few from ruiz. i think the decline in weight and age made a difference.

some myths that i always wondered about

-ruben oliveras and wilfredo benitez doing very little (if any) training prior to their fights.

He would not have gotten away with it if that was the case. They had an agreement to carry the fight for 20 rounds. Right before the punch, someone was heard from Ketchel's corner yelling "now!". Johnson took the mans teeth out, you think he would have gotten away with that?

Looking at the footage right now in slow mo on clear quality, he definitely gets him

Liston looked aggressive in the 5th round, he landed some body shots, and a jab or two, and grazed him with the left hook once or twice, a punch he was sort of "pushing" out rather than punching. I think it's an exaggeration to say it shows that he was definitely trying to KO Clay. The film is inconclusive. Liston was throwing a lot of tired arm punches that had no chance of landing, and a lot that had no chance of hurting. Many ringsiders were bemused by Liston's inability to land cleanly on a blinded opponent.
I dont see that 5th round as evidence one way or the other.
