Although it is often exagerated, it is a fact that "styles make fights." It is a fact that an iron will, a huge pair of balls, and a great chin are often more important than talent, skill, and speed. It is a fact that great technique and excellent timing will neutralize speed.
stepping in the ring is probably the first thing a lot of people wish they would have done in their teens if they had their time over again. i'm talking about people who never overcame their fear of getting hit - and having that mindset and fear can have a huge impact on a how someone develops through life. for some people, it's the bravest thing they've ever done, so don't trivialise that.
the spelling of it for starters. tell me why you don't think stepping in the ring to fight someone has any grounds for questioning someone's bravery?
First there's the thing of natural strength and talent, some have it, some have a little, some don't have any. If you already know you are going to beat the sh*t out of the dude you're facing, and he probably can't even hurt you it's not brave stepping in the ring with this guy. It's the way a lot of first pro fights go, and some only fight opponents they know they can beat easy for years. When the time comes to face a real opponent.... Well you know. P.S. I can't find anything wrong with the spelling, neither does google :huh
i'm talking about before pro, before amateurs - i'm talking about stepping in the ring. for most people that's a daunting prospect the first time. that'll happen down your local gym and there won't be the mismatch you're talking about.
Yes it does. The first time I stepped in the ring (millitairy) they put me in with a guy who I knew couldn't take my first hard punch... does that make me brave for stepping in the ring with him I ask you? edit: but let's drop it... we are killing the thread here :good
Ali isn't the undisputed best heavyweight by any means. It's basically a fact that styles make fights.
He said after he lost to Diaz that boxing was full of ****. :think I think that's another undisputed fact right there.
Had east europe been allowed to box from the 50s in the pro game american HW's would have never dominated as they did yep
Hmmm, that hasn't always been true. In fact as recently as Francisco vs. Soto has it shown to be untrue :yep
