Ask a puerto rican of their nationality, see if they respond "american" or "puerto rican", game over.

And tell me, who did Cotto represent the Olympic games? Was it the US or Puerto Rico? So if PR is part of US just as another state is, ie New York, does that mean any medals PR wins is added up to the US medal tally?

  2. I've been trying, but a particular group of people can't grasp the concept that people born in Puerto Rico that live in Puerto Rico are...

    wait for it....

    Puerto Rican. :admin

If Cotto is an American, so was Flash Elorde. The Philippines had an identical relationship with the U.S. when he was born.

If you was a little smarter you would kow how stupid you sound. The whole point of the arguement is the exact opposite of what you potray it to be. Cotto has an advantage in PPV sales b/c he is an American citizen was the point. Cotto has a built in fan base in America (Tito fans/PR parade) And Cotto being a son of an island that is owned by the USA is easier to build a PPV audience in america for then say a lil Asian guy or a Russian.

And what the **** does Floyd have to do with any of this? Y'all some Floyd Mayweather dick loving mother ****ers. Nobody says a word about him but you got that man's dick on ya mind.

ok ****heads lets say cotto is 'american' whats the best ppv's without americans?

btw americans are funny, you are apart of them when it suits their argument, let a puerto rican bomb their ass and they will claim puerto rico is apart of jordan or some other arab country.

In Imperial days you couldn't say that an Indian born in India who lived in India would be considered British just because India was in the British Empire. Their country might have been part of the British Empire and Britain technically, but if you had this Indian athlete come and compete in Britain at boxing at that time then they wouldn't be considered as British so to speak, even if they were subjects of Britain and they would not be considered to be on a par with a London-born athlete in terms of fan-base or home advantages.

Just like Cotto may be from a country which is a part of the American 'empire' or commonwealth, but that still makes him a foreigner in America, at a disadvantage to a USA-born athlete.

Before 1998 if a Hong Kong-born boxer and a France-born boxer fought in the UK then that would be considered a non-British fight, even though Hong Kong was part of Britain at the time.

    This is incorrect.

For example, JuanMan Lopez can probably sell out Madison Square Garden on PR parade weekend b/c he is Puerto Rican. There is no American Featherweight black or white that can do that.

You know I never see any of you in the Puerto Rico v Mexico thread, all these opinions on what a Puerto Rican is but are any of you Puerto Rican?

What about Adamek, he can sell out US venues, does that make him an honorary American?
