I heard about George Foreman eating a lot of red meat.

Do any of you eat a lot of red meat? What benefits do you seem to get from it?

I dont eat that much red meat really. I eat more turkey and chicken. But you can get red meat very lean. I only buy the 90-10 or 93-7 ground beef.

Also I have read that pork is very healthy as the fats are mostly unsaturated.

i usually only have it once a week
fish is the best tho especially cold water fish - lots of omega 3 which is good for the brain (apparently it even speeds up the brain)
and it breaks down and digests easily, it's not too heavy on the stomach
meat takes long to get through the system

Red meat is far to processed these days. High consumptions of red meat in the Western world has distinct links to cancer. Myself personally i very rarely eat red meat.

Fair enough, being over processed is what makes almost all western food rubbish, I was expecting it was because of animal fats. A lot of recent research suggests they've been taken out of our diet for false reasons (profits on margarine to name one). The link to heart disease from recent research seems to be non existent.

The link with cancer depends on overconsumption. Which is rather logical since it increases the need for antioxidants, and not many people get enough antioxidants in the first place.

When taken in moderation, red meat provides grade a protein. Its fat contains vitamin A and E, and it's a good source of conjugated linoleic acid, a substance linked to cancer as well but in a positive way.

Yeah they are always updating and telling us different things. First it was too much fat, then too much cholesterol, then no its not the consumed cholesterol its saturated fats, now they are saying blood cholesterol levels dont have as much link to heart disease as they thought and that it is inflammation that is the problem.

Damn, I try to keep up but they keep changing their minds. Anyone know how I can tell if I have inflammation of my veins?:think

True. Yet every time they present nutritional advice as if it's the undeniable truth. Western man has never eaten so little animal fats, yet heart disease is still running rampant.

You can tell by a high blood cholesterol level, it's not the cause but a symptom. I eat loads of anti infammatory foods, just in case.

From what I understand, and the sources I've read, eating red meat once a week is healthy.
