Starling vs. Molinares? Nice little fight, if not particularly noteworthy (although Starling did once say that these five rounds were his peak performance), and then one of the all-time memorable endings. The fight was ruled a Molinares win at the time, but eventually the commission ruled the bout a no-contest, agreeing with Starling's assessment that officially he was neither knocked out nor knocked down.

Prince Charles Williams v Merqui Sosa. So brutal, the ref Ron Lipton and commissioner Larry Hazard stopped it after 7 as they couldn't stand it any more. It was declared a draw but it wasn't. Sosa was ahead but in similarly bad shape as the Prince. But nor was it a NC. It was essentially the ref just saying two men should not be beating each other that badly and stopping it.

That shows a compassionate side to Lipton but some reports were not complimentary. I remember a report saying that there is nothing wrong with squeamishness but a boxing referee is the wrong person to be beset by it and the ring is not the right forum to show it.

    Anyway, read all about it.

Tyson utterly humiliating and dropping Andrew Golota who got yelled at by his own corner and left the arena covered in garbage was more entertaining than some of his knockouts.
