When he grabs, what you should NOT do is what Loma did when Saildo came inside and worked him, nothing.

What you should do is what Andre Ward does, WORK that body and throw short uppercuts and hooks to the head.

Don't throw low blows. the fight is in Russia/Germany and you will likely get a DQ.

Because it's easier said than done and body punching is a lost art form in the HW divison.

Sultan, Povetkin, and Haye were able to slip the jab and close the distance against Wlad but unlke Brock, they were head hunters. Loading up for the knockout instead of dedicating a sustained assault on the ribs. Wlad is great at parrying reaching punches away from his chin, but will give up the body.

Tony Thompson did have success going to Wlad's body as well. The problem is once you stop Wlad from clinching, he'll just start dancing around and beating you up..so.I can see why Povetkin and Haye was actually welcoming the clinch at points or even initating it.

Says the man who never been hugged by a powerful 250lbs 6'7" man, Wlad used all S&C in the last half decade to build sturdier mass of muscles all over his body, which makes him a power hugger, each hug takes some of your strength...best part is that this skillful hugging is no joke :yep

Ali used head control. Wlad has a panic attack with manifests into a grabbing hissy fit. Don't get me wrong, wlad is an excellent outside fighter and to dominate like he has in the HW division without having a good chin is remarkable.

Moot point. 99% OF his opponents are small guys.

Body punching might work. If you're really strong you could try throwing him off you like I've seen Cotto do. Timing and footwork is the most important thing though. You need the timing and footwork to land your punches and avoid his punches and clinches. Not easy though.

Get well greased up/oiled up before the fight and replenish it between rounds.

Hard to explain this with words - but it is impossible to hold onto a man who does this - bounce/jump up-and-down in little 6" hops. This Will break any grip particularly on a greasy/oily/sweaty boxer.

Some of the other "little tricks" mentioned are useful too - spitting on his shoulder, stepping on his toes/ forearm to the throat etc but they are all borderline illegal or actually illegal. Bouncing up and down is fully legal, and best of all it works.

Povetkin should have learned something from the Huck fight and made himself as smelly as possible against Wlad.

Wlad isn't nearly as offensive as he was during Purrity and Brewster 1 which means he won't run out of gas throwing the kitchen sink at you.

Wlad also didn't know how to clinch until after Sanders which would have probably saved him from that loss at the time.

He is a FAR more effective fighter now though his style went from extremely fan friendly to pretty damn hard to watch at times.

He should consider kneeing him in the nuts!!!

His holding should disqualify him....that's not even boxing!!!
