What are the best tactics to employ against wladimir's holding?

    Brewster and Purrity took a beating till Wlad fell asleep in the ring, not a stategy I'd employ personally.

    If you can get into the ring with him and fire a few hard lefts that he isn't expecting then more power too you.


    Also if you watch Wlads fights that he holds (Povetkin) for example rounds 1-5 I'd say wlad did hold too much but in the later round the clinches were initiated by Povetkin more than Wlad.

    So the way to beat wlad doesn't seem all that easy...

    In my mind Salido's holding in the last round against Lomanchenko was worse than anything Wlad has ever done and I've heard less about that than wlads clinching...he must have more haters...

    also combined with the low blows Salido would have been DQ'd by a competent ref

    Wlad fell a "sleep" because referee didnt allow him to hold as much as he wants and Wlad gassed because of his inability to control tempo of fight and his output by clinching, GREAT refereeing job. Wlad is tremendously talented and he would beat all of the guys he beat but it would be harder referees actually did their job because he will have to throw more.
