What are the biggest Tysdon Myths in your opinion? Lets her them and vote also.

Tyson destroyed Berbick, Smith, Bruno, Spinks, Holmes and Golota at times in their careers when they were very good and there's probably a few missed out there. Anyway I think some of these myths are true of the post prison Mike but let's face it, a vet like Holmes wouldn't be too intimidated to fight Mike Tyson and Tyson became the only guy ever to stop him. Tyson's speed and power were amazing during his early days but later on all he had was power, chin, expierience and intimidation. I think Vitali Klitschko, who has a bad style for Mike imo, would beat the 90's version but the 80's version? I just think Mike's speed would be too much.

Yeah towards the end(Williams, McBride), he even admitted by then his heart wasn't in it no more. What more do you want when he openly says this?
In every defeat he took his beating like a man, is that not showing heart.
Lewis couldv'e killed him! Which Mike stated after that fight.
Tyson showed a ton of heart in his career mate. The only time he never was when he bit Holyfield.

My favorite Tyson myth is that he is an all time great heavyweight.

Judge patricia gifford, former procecuter known for her aggressive prosecution of **** cases. Bans video and tv cameras from courtroom.

Desiree Washington, had contingency fee agreement with civil attorney to sue Tyson for damages well before trial. Jurors stated her testimony to the contrary was the basis of their decision.

Contingency fee attorney not allowed at criminal trial. Had she heard her client's testimony denying their legal relationship, she could have been disbarred for not coming forward. Notified judge gifford immediately after becoming aware of her clients false testimony. Multiple jurors stated had they known this, they would not have convicted...Gifford finds this would have had no impact on trial.

Three key defense witnesses having watched Tyson and Washington making out on the way to his room, not allowed to testify by judge gifford because the defense did not find them in a timely enough manner.

Tyson sentenced to 6yrs in a correctional facility completely devoid of any boxing equipment whatsoever...

Myths?

That he was past prime against Douglas.

That he was still a very good fighter against Holyfield. I give Tyson credit for balls and chin in that first fight, because he'd only fought something like 3 rounds in 5 years before getting in the ring with Holyfield. He was terribly unprepared for a fight like that.
His management team was either
a) completely ****ing deluded. (they picked Holy over Lewis because they thought Holy was shot, and a bigger name)
or
b) well aware that Tyson had slipped significantly, and wasn't likely to get it back, and were cashing out.

That one good round against Lewis showed he'd have beaten him prior to that. Both guys were past their best at that time. Tyson just far more so (despite Lewis saying otherwise, he was slipping at that point).

That all you had to do was stand up to him. You had to stand up to him, and also be very ****ing good too.

 

The first option is clear bull. He lost to two greats past his prime and really had no business fighting on after the lewis loss.

His only prime loss was douglas and people use this as a measuring stick for some reason. Tyson beat a lot of better men then douglas and I believe a more focused tyson beats him in the rematch. His legacy takes a hit because he never got that rematch but you only have to look at douglas in his next fight compared to mike in his.

Tyson was an old school warrior who always went out on his shield. He didn't fold when guys fought back at all.

Your argumentation is built up around fantasy match up, and fantasy outcomes. It's beeing pretty generous against Iron Mike, who was excellent, but not the unstoppable monster some of his fans like to believe.

Lewis was going strong even to end of his career, while Tyson faded to fast. There are conclusions to draw from that.
