TFFP - I heard Tommy Brooks refer to it when he said he was trying to get rid of his European style etc and Steve Collins also referred to it during his coverage in the studio that night too.

It seems to be a bit of a sweeping generalisation though....

Yeah that's what I meant, what are each trainers good points and bad points, not just British trainers as a whole. Obviously didn't word it correctly but this is progress!!!

Probably just means Jefferies is tight at the waist, doesn't move his head, but he's also very tense mentally which is a big part of why he seems to be forcing things.

I don't think the 'Euro' thing when people talk about it really relates to British fighters. We tend to have a fair mix. Whereas when you see a Ukranian coming over you just know what they're gonna be like more times than not. I think they have a very tried and tested framework in the old Soviet bloc that most coaches rely on. There are always exceptions of course, like Pirog.

Our fighters don't have a specific style as TFFP said you know what you get normally from eastern europeans etc. But i think our coaching is more based around solid use of basics. Work off jab and put shots together. Our lads are more attack minded then our peers on continent.

I think the reason why our fighters don't develop so well is because of matchmaking, rather than training.

They don't have to implement things in their earlier contests and as such become incapable of doing it once they step up.

We are too ''title focused'' rather than focusing on the bigger picture. Both DeGale and Gavin were badgering Warren for a title fight after like 3 fights. Really Frank and Dean Powell should look at their first ten contests and have......

    A knockover job first up
    A runner
    A pressure fighter
    A puncher
    A spoiler
    A counter puncher
A hard to stop man (like McDonagh or King)
    Southpaws

    etc etc.

i beleive amateur prefrences stifle young boxers, as a trainers job is to install winning techniques, the judging is a problem, if my kid went to school for 6 months and could only count to three i would be very disapointed. They score against versatility, and when young a lot get moulded that way, and the others get sick of loosing when they know theyve won, i feel it would be a lot bigger sport at all levels if the knuckle part of the glove scored, wichever direction it was thrown from.:good:good
