What are the classic fights at heavyweight where the swarmer beat the puncher?

Carmen Basilio was and he beat Lew Jenkins and Ike Williams, both of whom were punchers -at least at one times.

PS/ My mistake, I just read the "at heavyweight" part of this thread.

Anyway, the quintessential swarmer, Greb, whipped heavyweights in his spare time.

Tommy Farr beating Max Baer would be one example.

The boxer swarmer types tend to do it more often than the pure swarmers.

Tyson beat a few hard-punching types early on in his career.

Although it's almost a guarantee that Tyson himself hit harder than these guys, I'm arguing on the basis that Tyson was short, relatively small (compared to 240lb+ men) and was notoriously lethargic in clinches. He didn't wrestle much at all, so he was essentially the "weaker" man.

Stonehands gave some good examples, Dempsey over Firpo is one I can think of but most of the successful swarmers could punch, Quarry swarmed Shavers in there fight and Earnie was the harder puncher but less of a chin than Jerry, Frazier/Ramos ....Lamotta was a swarmer but a decent puncher not a great puncher and he beat some punchers, he beat Satterfield who ko'd Heayweight Baker,Big Cat Williams and dropped big Nino Valdes in a dominant win.....Tyson was a swarmer vs Bruno and Rudduck but was also the better fighter

Everett Martin vs Tim Witherspoon. I know. Everett wasn't a swarmer. He was a follow you.

If the op wanted to prove that it is difficult for a swarmer to beat a puncher, the point would have to be taken.

Your qualifications make this difficult, since there haven't been many heavyweight swarmers, and the ones there have been have generally been murderous punchers themselves, hence making it hard to find fights where they fought someone who hit even harder than they did.

Following the strict definition (at heavyweight and against a puncher who hit harder than the swarmer himself):
    Greb over Brennan
    Walker over Uzcudun
Satterfield over Williams (depending on who you consider to hit harder)
    Dempsey over Firpo (")
    Tyson over Ruddock (")
    Purrity over Klitschko
    Brewster over Klitschko

Below heavyweight are a lot more examples, such as LaMotta over Satterfield, LaMotta over Murphy, Basilio over Robinson, Qawi over Muhammad (depending on who you consider the harder hitter), Benn over McClellan, Chavez over Rosario, etc.

LaMotta did NOT swarm Satterfield, but rather kept away out of danger, according to fight report.

Risko over Godfrey and Baer could be mentioned. Risko was a swarmer without much power.
The Godfrey victory was very disputed, however.

I wouldnt call Farr a swarmer ,he was a pretty good boxer ,behind his left hand ,but lacked top power.
