    World Boxing

Is this the list? What do you think?

    the Ring
    Boxing News

not sure if there was a European one, however both France & Italy had Sport/Boxing magazines, Miroir Print and il Pucilatore

Australia must have and maybe even South Africa...

all were Boxing's Leading Nations up until the 1960's anyway.

Newspapers were the best, they used to be Huge for Coverage with all the Major Sports Papers & pages employing Noted Boxing and/or Sports writers, there were literally dozen of them in all the Major Cities round the Western world and beyond.

I have a lot of 40 something Nocaut magazines, Venezuelan boxing magazine from the 70s...

Argentina had plenty but they were not boxing only focused, like Goles, El Grafico, they had motor sports, fútbol and boxing together... they had Guia Pugilistica that was an annual and was more about year records...
In Brazil we had Ringue, but it didn´t catch, I have two of those... PLACAR was the sports magazine we had and they often had boxing reports in there...

Got to have the Police Gazette. Everything Ring is Nat stole from Richy and the Gazette.

After that, dunno bud, in all honesty I put more work into trashing mags then exalting them. Fight Hype knowingly reprinted a Ray Pearson fantasy fight like as if it was proof of a real fight between dempsey and johnson so their trash.

Ring's told as many lies as truths and made it really difficult to speak to history directly and not through the lens of a liar who makes of fantasies to sell to the public.

Pretty much everyone else in somewhere in there. Love Cliff Rold. I wish Cliff would do his own GD research into history though. He's trash because he stands on the shoulders of trash rather than his own.

Likewise even CBZ and the IBRO to some degree are too pansy assed to just say Nat was full of **** and we should stop telling his narrative like it fits.

So take your pick which BS mag ripped off which BS mag to make the best BS mag, they are all in the misinformation business

Boxing News is the clear number one for me, still going strong, unbroken history, weekly, more than 100 years old. Probably slowly bowing round about now, but up until this year, nothing but great.

    I can't say I agree, I had damn near ALL of them from 1939 - 2000s,

I kept back the 1930's & 1940s and happily got rid of all of the rest of them, too Rule Britannia/England centric and all that regurgitated shite, just as in the same way the Ring was U.S centric. I had damn near all of them and most people would have been glad to possess them, No Thanks, never again.

In fact I've got 10 -12 years of duplicate copies from 1952 - 1966 or something For Sale if anyone's interested...

I hope to get all the Early Boxing Mags from 1909 up to what I've got and all the Ring Mags from 1922 - 51, outside of that, the Papers and film footage provide all that anyone needs.

I still say the Newspapers are the best!

But it's weekly. Even if you only find 1-2 articles to read each week it's probably beating all the monthlies that month anyway.

Sports magazines that are weekly just don't happen. It's amazing we got one really.

True and I am grateful for the early ones,

but Newspapers are Daily and from all over the West, where ever you live and over the whole Globe if you wish, plus you can glean much more from them and collect literally THOUSANDS of Reports.

It is Good Archaeology & Research, plus it is a lot of fun!

I used to like the British mag Boxing monthly.
    Some good articles in there.
Shame it went the way of others.

I liked KO the best. They had the interview in each issue befor all the computer and cell phone access to such things. I also had a garage gym as a teen so I could hang some of the fold out posters I liked. KO the clear winner for me.

I loved all of them mentioned here. I would pore over every detail. I will mention another one that many may frown upon, but I loved it for its acerbic take on things. And that was 'Flash Gordon's Tonight's Boxng Program'. there was no political correctness there. No agenda. He just let it all hang out.

Beat me to it. My five in order:

    Flash Gordon’s Tonight’s Boxing Program

    Boxing News

    The Ring

    KO

Hank Kaplan’s International Boxing Digest (not the greatest writing or journalism all around but at the time imo the most thorough truly worldwide reporting with results and live accounts from cards near and far)

Probably the same thing, but I had a subscription to one back in the day called "Professional Boxing Update", which eventually changed it's name to just "Flash". Not very many pages per issue...it arrived folded in half IIRC...but an excellent source of boxing news.

By your description it’s the same thing. It was one huge sheet folder in half and in half again and yet again, so each section was a ‘page.’ Type was pretty small too.
