Ali-Foreman tops that one for my money, but an excellent one nonetheless.

    Rumble in the Jungle

One of the best performances ever by a professional athlete in any sport, a spectacular and stunning result to one of the most anticipated fights ever. NOthing comes close.

****in hell - none of you are mentioning an american fighter winning in an opponenets back yard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    douglas v tyson doesn't count!
    ali v foreman doesn't count!
    ali v frazier doesn't count!
    rahman v lewis doesn't count!

seems like there are very few americans who have gone and won a big fight on foreign soil fighting in their oponents country.

It defo don't qualify because the "Proffessor" is obviously not from the states but...
(This is the way you go into a fighter's backyard)
Azuma Nelson Vs. Jeff Fenech II

It's going to hard to find a good American traveling off to fight, considering most big fight's almost always happen here in the states.

It has to be in the opponent's backyard to really count - not being disparaging, but winning on neutral soil isn't as good......

Bradley vs Witter was a strange one, in hindsight the victory isn't as shocking, Witter had personal issues etc and Bradley had slipped under the radar.....

Few Americans come here and beat the very best of our lot, and vice versa.

although not american, that was a good example.

just shows what an advantage americans have though when they never have to travel, never have to aclimatise, never have to face the volatile crowd, never have to worry about the foreign ref and the foreign judges.

ali's world tour took him to Canada (Chuvalo), England (London, Cooper), Germany (Mildenberger). They may not have been the best ever but Chuvalo was a tough sob and Mildenberger was underrated.

  14. Sam Peter is an American fighter, lives in Las Vegas, but Nigerian native, went to Mexico and KO'D Oleg Maskaev, 2 years in Mexico..
    Peter won the WBC title:deal..
Hagler stopped Minter in London and was almost killed:-(
Didn't Dempsey KO Firpo in Spain:huh??????
Holyfield at least won a moral victory last year against Valuev, most thought he won but it was in Valuev's back yard any close fight he will get the benefit of the doubt:think, SAD BUT TRUE..
Most Americans don't want to go to Foreign soil because they don't wanna get ripped off, look at what happened to Librado Andrade against Bute last year, THAT WAS ****ED UP...
