i agree, it is a legit win, but Gomez accomplished much more than Solis as a pro, even if it was at CW

It's a weird argument alright. It's like saying Mike Tyson's best ever win over Spinks shouldn't count cause he got brutalized inside a few seconds.

I would've LOVED to have seen Vitali against Nicolai Valuev! That was Sugar's duck but nonetheless.

    1.Corrie Sanders

Sanders is the clear number one, not only was he coming off a huge upset over Vitali's younger brother, but he gave Vitali his hardest fight par Lewis.
If you take away his win over Wlad his resume is very average, thats irrelevant,
Sanders was a clear underachiever and clearly the best H2H on Vitali's record.

    2.Herbie Hide

Hide is the most underrated win here, anyone who watched his career would know this. This was Vitali's first ever shot at a belt and a huge step up in class, although his title defences were against weak opposition, he did win titles off Bentt who had just beat Morrison and Tucker who was faded but game and Hide demolished him in two, although he was only 215 he hit like a 250 pounder, granite chinned Bowe claimed he hit much harder than Holyfield and Golota.

    3.Juan Carlos Gomez

Gomez had an outstanding record of 44-1 as a pro, 158-12 as an amateur, ten cruiser weight WBC title defences beating Dominguez twice and former middleweight champ Jorge Castro. People also seem to forget his HW wins over Vyrchys, former world champ McCall twice and undefeated world Amateur champ Sinan Samil Sam. This is a solid win and deserves the number three spot.

    4.Samuel Peter

This win would have been higher had Peter came in the shape as the Wlad fight but regardless this is a great win. Peter was the WBC champ who a couple of years earlier gave Wladimir hell, Vitali took this fight with no tune up after having almost 4 years out of the sport, it was a very risky thing to do with Peter being a very big puncher and a strong freakishly tough guy, Vitali put on an amazing performance winning every round and forcing Sam's corner to stop the fight.

    5.Derek Chisora

Despite having just a 15-2 record on paper and lack of experience, Derek absolutely deserves a top 5 spot, Why? In Chisora's previous fight to his world title challenge he fought hot prospect and at the time many were labelling the future of the heavyweight division Helenius, who had already beaten former champs and contenders in Peter, Brewster, Liakhovich, Greg Tony, Bidenko, Levin, Gammer and Oloukun in just 16 fights. Chisora went on to beat Helenius 11 rounds to 1 but was somehow robbed of the decision, he also pushed the aging Vitali to his limits and lost a fair decision. A 40 year old Vitali showed heart in this fight beating the young hungry Chisora.

based on performance against vitali, chisora's a top 5

  15. Hahaha... it's funny how Rahman is slated and called a bum when people speak about Lewis, yet Corrie Sanders is spoke about like he's some beast and Vitali's best win. :rofl
