LoL, I would suggest that I'm a Hatton fan, as opposed to a hugger. Hatton is 28 in his prime and has a good proven track record. He may not be an all time great, nor may he be the best technical boxer.

I am not blinded by Patriotism, I do not feel Hatton is P4P No 1, as some on here do. I feel that generally he will struggle in the Welter division against the elite 'genuine' Welters and that his place is at 140lbs.

However his record cannot be disputed.

He was lambasted for not fighting the best, staying in the UK, home town ref advantage, fighting tomato cans etc etc. After Frank Warren (the source of all evil in UK boxing) finally delivered an A - List Elite fighter in Tszyu, Hatton has prevailed, with all those fighters put before him, all of those bar Castillo were reigning champs irrespective of your perceptions of them.

As the No 1 man at 140lbs after Kostya he could have stayed home, fighting in front of 25,000 at the MEN Arena, and making meaningless defences against mandatories for 10 years (thereby being a great champion defending his belt for 10 years), earning a shed load of cash, fighting the 'safe' options. Instead he opted to unify 140 in his first bout. Then to fight in the States to this day, leading up to a bout with the most technically gifted boxer of my generation.

The man has balls and has made a decision where his '0' could truly go.

I have watched Hatton since he turned pro on Sky Sports here in the UK and will say he can be over-hyped, but of late I am surprised that for all the huggers and hypers, there and are an equal number of haters and snipers.

I'm a Hatton Hater alright. The way he fought Tszyu and his superfans made me one. I call it like I see it, and his fans don't like it. Now you...YOU are a typical, British Hatton fan...and nothing will change your point of view...

but here's what many people think about him...

1. He has had a protected career.

2. His resume is padded.

3. He has a disgusting, illegal style.

4. He's overrated, and there's people more deserving of this shot than him.

You have refused to recognize these shortcomings...refused to recognize even 1. You want to see him in a positive light. A blind light.

When the reality is that Ricky Hatton is a 2nd rate boxer who has finagled his way into this fortunate position. The pay off.

and the ride stops here...the truth is going to come out. Everyone in the Boxing world will know exactly where Hatton stands on the totem pole after he is clearly Dominated in that ring next week.
