It's not. You're right. Call me hoplessly optomistic, but I'd like to salvage any respectability the belts have left, if any.

But it's not at a catchweight. And Dawson for some reason wanted to come to 168, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense. You're right this is a wasted fight for both fighters imo. I would of much rather seen Ward fight Dawson at 175. But let's call it what it is. Ward isn't trying to steal Dawson's lhw belt in some catchweight farce. He just isn't taking very big of a risk.

    NO RISK = NO REWARD.

Like I said, THIS is all that really matters. I swear, some of you would complain about a blowjob being TOO GOOD if you blew your wad to fast... :patsch

I agree to an extent. The numbers aren't magical. And if both the fighters agree, well... there you have it.

But the numbers have to mean SOMETHING. If they don't, what's the point of having weight classes or belts?

    It would be catchweight chaos.

Preferrably no titles, with an equal weight sacrifice between the two.

A catch should have an advantage to BOTH fighters physically.

I agree, don't get me wrong. But the numbers, or limits, are just that. Limits. THey have to separate the divisions somehow. It does seem like there's more interest in CW fights w/ guys. Guess it's something we should get accustomed to.

That's what I was afraid of... Well the least can do is decrease the number of belts. But I think you are correct.

As long as no championships are on the line. Even if both sides agree. Which ever sactioning body has a championship by either boxer. They should strip them of that championship, and arange for 2 other boxers to fight for that championship.

Utterly ridiculous concept. :patsch The weight classes encompass a span, not a single weight in that span. The WW champ isn't the champ of only weighing 147, it's over 140 and at a max of 147.

No belts, titles in a certain weight class should be earned under the rules of that weight class. Also my opinion is that they shouldn't be done to just give one person an advantage, it should actually make sense for the fight to be at that weight.

I personally don't think catchweights should be done under contract, however I have no problem with a gentleman's agreement.

has to be reasonable. cotto losing 2 pounds in 6 months, reasonable.
Marquez having to gain 12 pounds in 6 months, not reasonable
