    Here's my experiences:

Sparring someone much taller than me but around my weight or more importantly, doesn't hit that hard - This isnt too bad, I can work my way in and get them on the inside.

Sparring someone shorter than me but a lot more built and stronger - Again, this isnt too bad, I can outbox them from a distance.

Sparring guys my size - As expected...down to skill level entirely.

Sparring a taller and much heavier/bigger puncher - My worst nightmare. I cant outbox them from the outside because of the huge reach advantage, and I cant get inside as I would get blasted out.

Sparring someone near the same height but much heavier/big puncher. In theory I should outbox them with my speed, but I find that it is harder to box them when they hit so hard because I take less risks and fight more nervous.

In the end its mostly skills. Ive sparred novice heavies and beat them quite easily, after a few good months of training, I wouldnt dare get in the ring with them seriously.

I used to enjoy sparring smaller guys so that I could get some work in against speed and such, but now that I am so out of shape, I can't come close to catching up with these little guys, so I don't enjoy it much, haha.

i sparred a smaller guy who had done thai boxing for about 7 years, he was much sharper than me not really to do with his height as i was a couple of inches taller but the experience levels where obvious i took alot of shots to the face, his timing was superb

:deal i handle most fairly comfortably. however there is one guy who weighs about 90 / 92 kilos and is about 6 3 , 6 4. excellent boxer, he is fast and hits hard with both hands. also adopts a floyd / toney style left hand low. has fast hard jab and regualrly brings voer a dangerous riht hand too.

im about 5 11 and 80 ish kilos, 75 ish if in shape probably and he givesme fits. just as fast, hits harder, more aggresive and throws punches uin bunches, i get nervous, throw one at a time and get picked off whilst landing little.

got left with a black eye from sparring above my weight but it helps becuase you get a feel for different fighters. it's always good to spar within your weight but i guess everyone has an advantage in the ring and experience will only make you a better fighter.

We've got a fairly new bloke training with us who we've nicknamed 'Ivan Drago' the guys built like a Greek god. Useless in the ring to begin with but now he's starting to get a bit of technique, anyways got caught by a right hand last session and nearly floored me. Generally the bigger guys I've sparred have been more experienced so they go as hard as you go. I think Ivan has decided to unleash hell as payback for everyone tagging him.

Needless to say next session I'll pay him more respect

    Pretty much almost that.

There's 4 guys including myself who all started at the gym I go to in the past 2 months. This other guy from my ship in my division who is about 220 something, a guy off another ship who is 180ish but has done a lot of weight lifting so he's a lot of bulk and muscle, and another guy who's 135ish and a southpaw. So my trainer has 220-180 spar, I spar 180-135, and 135 generally spars the gym owner who lets us get in work and myself. 180 hits hard but I tend to do okay if i keep moving in and out and don't stay stationary. My conditioning still needs more work but I've been doing better since I started working in jab parries.

I always find it baffling how smaller guys throw caution to the wind and attack bigger guys with ZERO thought of defense. :) Smaller guys never realize it, but hitting them clean is hard as hell for a bigger guy. They can see us move from a mile away and all of the "holes" are tiny.

My advice for any smaller aggressive guy would be to be SURE the first shot connects and is all about being covered while throwing it THEN unleash. Too many time guys throw a jab from too far away and then go into unleashing ONLY to be impaled on a shot from the bigger guy. Jab (covered with the shoulder AND rear hand), block the counter, get work!

yeah, sometimes my sessions with slow guys are really easy, nothing ever lands, but if they have a smart style and DON'T match the work rate they can make it tough/stop the little guy quickly. When Willy Wise tried to match shane's speed in one of his first fights at welter, you could tell it led to Willy getting messed up BADLY, he was really open for the speed mauling. When Vernon Forrest just used the jab to control the speed and set up the big right hand, it almost looked like Shane didn't belong in there with him.
