For me, here are my favorites: 1) Welterweight - fighters in this division include Shane Mosley, Miguel Cotto, Joshua Clottley, Andre Berto, Antonio Margarito, Carlos Quintana, and Luis Collazo. Also, possible fighters in this division include Paul Williams, Kermit Cintron, Zab Judah, Floyd Mayweather Jr., Manny Pacquiao, and Ricky Hatton. As you can see, there is so much talent and superstar status at stake that it creates a lot of excitement in boxing. 2) Lightweight - fighters in this division include Juan Manuel Marquez, Juan Diaz, Edwin Valero, Antonio DeMarco, and Michael Katsidis. Also, possible fighters in this division include Joel Casamayor, Nate Campbell, Joan Guzman, and Manny Pacquiao. Up and comers include Amir Khan, Bredis Prescott, and Ali Funeka. All are thirsty for glory and to be recognized as the best in their division. Again, plenty of talent here. 3) Jr. Featherweight - fighters in this division include Israel Vazquez, Rafael Marquez, Juan Manuel Lopez, Celestino Caballero, Jhonny Gonzalez, Bernabe Concepcion, Daniel Ponce De Leon, and Gerry Penalosa. All fighters have exciting fighting styles. 4) Super Middleweight - fighters in this division include Mikkel Kessler, Lucia Bute, Librado Andrade, and Jermain Taylor. Also, possible figthters in this division include Kelly Pavlik and Arthur Abraham. Possible match ups between any of these fighters will make the winner a superstar. 5) Light Flyweight - fighters in this division include Ivan Calderon, Ulises Solis, Edgar Sosa, and Hugo Cazares. Also, a possible fighter in this division is Roman Gonzalez, the ring magazine minimumweight champion. I would love to see Roman win this division as he is a national hero in my country, Nicaragua. However, beating Ivan Calderon will be a tough task. My least favorite: 1) Featherweight - other than Chris John and Yoriokus Gamboa, no one really stands out. This is the reason Chris John is taking a trip up north while Yoriokus Gamboa establishes his skills prior to moving up himself. 2) Bantamweight - other than Gerry Penalosa, no one stands out. This is the reason Gerry Penalosa is taking a trip up north to face J.M. Lopez. 3) Flyweight - other than Nonito Donaire, no one stands out. 4) Middleweight - other than Kelly Pavlik and Arthur Abraham, no one stands out. These fighters will most likely face themselves or move north. 5) Cruiserweight - other than Steve Cunningham and Tomazs Adamek, no one stands out. Actually, this might be a case that there is not much publicity for this division and if there are fighters worth watching other than the two I have mentioned, then I am not aware of them. Honorable Mention: Although the Heavywieght Division has been plagued with mediocracy, I watch all the fights just hoping for someone to become the dominant and exciting force and clean it up. Sorry to say, Wladimir Klitschko, although dominant, is not that exciting. I will be very much interested in watching David Haye, Chris Arreola, Juan Carlos Gomez, Alexander Povetkin, and Vitali Klitschko step it up.
I really dont have favorites and least favorite divisions, it just depends on the matches for me. I'm a huge Heavyweight boxing fan, but based on the most recent developments in the division, I feel the need to boycott it in a sense. I have been disappointed recently with fighters like Peter, Briggs, and Chagaev, for various reasons, but for two of them, it's inactivity. I just hope fighters like Haye and Povetkin can bring some light to a very dim lit Heavyweight division.
