Not fights that are great knockouts, or great tactical fights, or fights that are significant in any way, just your favorite Spoon ACTION fights.

    1. Bruno- probably the best version of Spoon ever, clever, great cross arm defense, big overhand right hands

    2. Holmes- great effort vs a terrefic champion, shame we didn't see a rematch

I will have to go rewatch Spoon fights. He is a terrefic and underrated fighter

I would have to say that Witherspoon-Page I is one of the most thrilling Spoon fights I've ever seen.

The Bruno one, first time I'd seen Spoon in action. Obviously he beat Frank but hardly looked spectacular thru most of the fight. But end of the day he got the win. I've since watched a few fights of his. The Holmes fight, what a cracking match and Tim really unlucky there.
Still can't watch the Bonecrusher 2 fight with out thinking ehhhhhh???

Holmes was by far his best fight (the Bruno was good). In fact, he never looked better imo.

When I hear the word “ Boxer-puncher “. I think of Tim Witherspoon and Mike Mccallum

Bruno fight. I can picture those overhand rights driving Frank into the canvas. Sweet win when your in another guys country.

It's funny, most everyone talks about what a horrid, droll fight that was.

I think of Jimmy Ellis, Carlos Monzon, Larry Holmes, Thomas Hearns, Michael Dokes, Jersey Joe Walcott, Joe Louis, and those types of fighters. I don't really think of Spoon as a boxer-puncher, although he was a top-notch puncher and a fair boxer as well.

His first round knockout win over Anders Ecklund was short but sweet. Best text book KO I’ve ever seen. His later fight with Jorge Gonzalez was a nice performance. His earlier fights against Holmes and Bruno were exciting

Larry Holmes was a boxer with average power

Joe Louis was a puncher ( in my opinion)

I have to say that though he was nothing close to prime when he fought Mercer, it was simply amazing for him to stand toe-to-toe like that with the much younger man who was probably one of the toughest and strongest heavyweights of all time. Spoon didn't slug it with Mercer on occasion, but for the full 10 rounds. That fight is akin to Foreman-Moorer, Holmes-Mercer for me.
