He was never the same after Hopkins. Learn how to read moron. He was overhyped. Got a gift vs. ODLH, had a good career.
Relax child. You still just said he was overhyped just because he lost to Hopkins.... that's what you are saying. Are you sure you're in the right thread?
He was definitely one dimensional. If you knew how to neutralize his power you pretty much had him beat. De La Hoya, Hopkins, Wright, Jones Jr. all figured out how to neutralize his greatest asset. Fernando Vargas figured him out after a few rounds, but with the KDs, and the nut shots, and not having the stamina that Tito did he was toast by the Championship rounds. I had it even going into the 10th or 11th.
Sounds like you're selling Tito short in the skill set realm. If you could effectively disrupt his rhythm, you could neutralize and limit his offense. But Tito was highly skilled with a solid ring IQ.
Yeah a bit, I need to watch some of his fights to see what he does good because I'd never been too keen on Trinidad before and most of my knowledge about him comes from the Joppy, Vargas, Wright, Hopkins and DLH fights. Recently I was on a rewatch binge and I watched his fights with Wright and Hopkins back to back, safe to say that's the reason why I posed this question.
It's probably worth noting that all of Tito's fights you mentioned (with the exception of DLH and Vargas) happened north of his best fighting weight. It took guys like Bernard, Winky, and to a lesser extent DLH and Vargas to effectively neutralize and disrupt Tito's rhythm with any prolonged success. If you couldn't do that you were in trouble, and Trinidad beat some talented guys at 147 and also in his brief stint at 154.
