Was it his last outing ?

Was it his previous bouts ?

    Will Simpson get robbed ?

    Will Simpson come undone ?

    I see quite a few are taking Smith.......why ?

Me, am taking Simpson.....of course i am.

    Previous outing.

    Record away.

    Relentless attitude.

    12 round experience.

    New formula (Nelson)

    What says you ?

You are kinda asking this like it seems unreasonable somehow. Why are we taking Smith, rather than who are we picking (which there is already a thread for).

Didn't he win the first fight? At the very least, it was enough to not be an unreasonable decision. Smith still has a lot of scope for improvement, and if he damaged his hand, even more so. Plenty of logic in taking him.

Am going with ste for this, in my opinion hes a more skilled boxer than simpson. However it is going to be a brilliant fight as simpson feels he was hard done by in the first fight and ste's going to want to prove to a lot of people that a stephen smith with 2 hands is a better boxer than the stephen smith that won back last september when he suffered the hand injury early on in the fight, Should be a good night of boxing down at the olympia.

Smith showed in the last fight he could outbox Simpson. He did so for 4-5 rounds until he broke his hand. He showed allot of character in that fight. Even if the decision went the wrong way it was Smiths first real fight as a pro in the lions den.

Btw you cannot be robbed in a close fight.

I just think Smith is a quality operator and we only saw part of what he is capable off.

The best Smith beats the best Simpson.

hoping it's a much better fight than the last one which was **** poor and scrappy. If Simpson can get his work off more and be a bit smarter than last time I think he can take it. It's hard to write off Smith though as he is the youngster who is ever improving. Not to mention his alleged hand injury last time.

    What's the undercard action?

No, not at all.....hence why am asking, would like to know a little.....is all.

He was a **** hot amateur, havent seen a lot of him maself though, pro or amateur.

    I admire his attitude too.

So people are picking him based on winning the last fight....as you have mentioned ?

I know you of course dont speak for others :good

Yes theres a thread, didnt see much reasoning as to peoples picks.

Simpson will win this IMO, not impressed with Smith much at all. His best bet is to spoil again IMO.

Im picking Stephen Smith for this fight because im from Liverpool

Really though i think that Smith will win for the following reasons:

It is evident from the first fight that Smith is the better boxer. When his hand was fine he was easily outboxing Simpson.

I think Smith is the heavier puncher of the two

Simpsons only hope is to use his workrate and to rough Smith up on the inside where he had a lot of success in the last fight.
Smith was able to nullify Simpson enough with one good hand and probably being in a brawl for the first time of his career. Moving to Gallagher they will have worked on his inside game having sparred with Crolla and Murray.

Smith knows what Simpson brings to the table this time round and is better equipped to deal with it Simpson cant change how he boxes to beat Smith he just needs to hope that his pressure and workrate and roughing up is enough. Smith has the tools to adapt and change during the fight.

All things being equal no injuries/cuts Smith should win clearer on the cards 116-112

Had a look, not much decent a part from Price, his opponent looks to be reasonably durable but was stopped in four by Eddie Chambers.

Simpson just seemed too eager too engage last time and as a result Smith was tying him up before he'd gotten anything off. The problem from Simpson is that if he stands off and tries to pick his shots, he is liable to be picked off by Smith. It's going to be a difficult nights work for both of them. Going to be fascinating.

If Simpson wins, where does he go from here? A rematch with Linsday was in the works at one point wasn't it? Or how about if a European title shot? He's got a decent ranking with the IBF as well I believe.

I'm going for Simpson because the version that turned up against Lindsay was the best there's ever been. And a lot of that has to be down to the sparring with Burns, Frampton etc.

The Simpson that beats Lindsay beats Smith tomorrow night. Smith's first fight in 7-8 months. Might not seem like much of a hinderance, and whilst Joe G might have him sharper than ever, Simpson might be waiting until the 2nd half of the fight to step on him and grab the fight by the neck.

I'm not counting Smith out by any stretch but the second half of the fight will be where Simpson wins it.
