was a LONG time ago, and it had something to do with Calzaghe as well, but I made a joke and you bombed on me so hard other posters were tryin to take up for me and ****. I damn near said **** ESB. you know me well enough on here to know I don't. Ack down either and will gladly throw some E-blows my damn self, but you were comin with that scorched earth type of thunder. That water has long flowed under the bridge though mis amigo :cheers
Kessler was a very good fighter earlier in his career, but was never the same after Calzaghe beat him. If you watch prime Kessler against Andrade, Beyer and Siaca, he was a different animal. Kessler hasnt had that head and foot movement for a long time now and I doubt he will ever get it back. Still what do I think of him - Great role model, great sportsman and a good guy you cant help but root for, and still although well past his best, still good, just not able to handle certain styles or when pushed back anymore
I was referring to the fact that Mundine gave up his belt because he was terrified of the prospect of Kessler being his mandatory. I thought Aussies regarded Mundine as a bit of a joke for doing that.Certainly seen it said on here.
His only real weakness was trouble fighting on the backfoot, he's slipped quite a lot since the Calzaghe fight. But I'm a huge Kessler fan as should most true boxing fans be
I don't know if he meant Euro level or the fact hes just European lol. either way, Kessler was clearly world class
He's a solid fundamental fighter who is a notch below the very elites. Past his prime now, though. At his best, probably similar to Cotto in that regard (without the depth on his resume).
Definitely a high quality fighter. His misfortune was being in a division that had 2 great fighters consecutively during his time, and it's also a bit unfortunate that arguably his defining fight is a credible performance in a loss to Calzaghe.
