He was sentenced to five years in prison today, for basically fracturing a guy's whole head with an aluminum baseball bat. The specifics of the case and the incident can be found on espn's boxing page. I personally think he deserves the time in a legal sense. Nothing explains that kind of behavior outside of serious, serious issues. It's still a damn shame though, since he was a pretty good fighter and his career is probably done with. Interestingly enough, one of my best friends comes from the town in connecticut where the incident took place, and I went to a peter manfredo card in connecticut where in a war, manfredo stopped some naturally smaller guy with heart named angel hernandez. remillard methodically stopped a guy named carlos rivera in the co feature. after the fight my boy and i approached remillard to congratulate him as he was handing out signed cards to members of the audience. he was a quiet guy who seemed intense. we congratulated him and he gave us each signed cards and I still have mine. while talking to him I put my hand on his shoulder. he shifted strangely and shot me a half second glare which I interpreted as him not liking what i did, and I removed my hand. I wasn't scared or anything, I just removed it out of respect as I would have done anyone. it seemed weird to me, I felt like he thought I was trying to disrespect him in some way. maybe i'm overthinking it though, he could've just been wound up after winning an important bout. either way, it's a damn shame, but see you in 5 years matt. thoughts?

Five years over a stupid chick. Some dumb **** there. The guy obviously has some issues if he needs to go after somebody with a bat. He's lucky he isn't going away for life for murder.
yeah it's because he plead no contest. he probably would have killed that guy if he didn't somehow get to his car. i'm surprised the judge didnt throw the book at remillard full force. I get the feeling it's because remillard actually had a promising life before the incident
malignaggi is featherfisted. remillard actually had decent pop. it'll almost always come from an accumulation of punishment but he can stop guys who are there to be hit often. he definitely wasnt a featherfisted fighter.
Only a true idiot would go to prison over a woman. Plus, guess who's hooking up with her sure as **** now that you're locked behind bars? Right, the guy you nearly killed. Genius.
