http://www.daytondailynews.com/dayt...ng-hall-of-fame-1025590.html?cxtype=ynews_rss I think it's very short sighted and the comparisons are far too vague and generalized. You?
Tyson is one of the very few boxers in a generation that comes in and becomes the defining figure of that period. The guy might of gone off the rails, but he left a legacy that simply cannot be ignored. He should be in the hall of fame, no doubt. Though, the arguments for him not to of been voted in are solid moral arguments. But, at the end of the day, its about the sweet science.
The article is judging him on his life outside the ring. To get into the HoF let his in ring performance do the talking and for that he gets in easy.
Oscar de La Hoya went to court because he was accused of ****, he should be ineligible for the Hall of Fame!
Pernell was a connoisseur of Columbian nose powder along with Ray Leonard, Alexis Arguello and Aaron Pryor. They ain't getting in the hall of fame.
Mike Tyson is by no means a role model, but I'm sure the Hall of fame has plenty of guys who are not role models and will induct manny more.
