Dear Friends kind regards I was wondering what everyone's views on Don King are. I was looking up about him on Youtube and stumbled upon the following clips. Don King gets angry at a reporter. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8whe3J7w4Q[/ame] What is your view on Don King and his career as a boxing promoter? Has King's presence helped boxing or damaged it? What are Don King's good points and bad points both in his personal dealings with others and his handling of power in the sport of Boxing? If you could give me your views on this subject and contribute to the poll I'd appreciate it. yours thankfully John
King is scum. Its amazing the man has stayed alive as long as he has. He went from a street thug murderer to rubbing elbows with royalty and the most powerful people in the world. Truly a testament to his ability to con. He is probably the most prolific conman to ever live. Jack Newfield attempted to expose King for what he really was, and thats why King errupted and tried to have Newfield knocked off.
Don King was a thief, a conman, and a murdering scumbag. But he never shyed away from putting a big fight together. Which elevates him above the likes of Bob Arum in some respects
My views vary depending on where I stand, but from front-on he looks like a black troll doll. This content is protected
he is bad cause he steals from the fighters but when he was at the top he put great cards together wish we could get a promoter that would be fair to the fighters and put great ppv cards together
An evil, murdering, dishonest, corrupt, greedy piece of human refuse- the kind of man that is guaranteed to burn in hell if a place like that exists. That being said, he has put together some of the greatest cards in boxing, some of it's most memorable events, and has promoted some of the greatest fighters to ever grace the game. He's like a more modern Doc Kearns- an awful man, incredible promoter.
King is a legend. Those fighters that talk **** about big Don after they have left him end up getting ****ed over by the other promoter. Then they come to realise that the grass isn't always greener on the other side. Don made these cats more money than they could ever imagine. In return he took his cut. WTF is the big deal about that? He's the one who made the fights happen. King = P4P #1 ATG Promoter
Generally speaking whether you like him or not, at least Don King made big fights happen more consistently than any other promoter out there throughout the years.
This once I agree with you, normal u just talk ****! Fighters on the way up borrow money( from the people that are promoting and supporting them! Then if they make the big time and the person has them repay what they owe , it is "Don is robbing me ,Arum took all my money. Get use to the fact most fighters talk ****. From experience I am on Kings side.
How many fights did Don King have fixed? Whitaker vs. Chavez stands out. Chavez vs. Taylor was a robbery. He turned every decent scrap into a PPV, alienated the common fan and then had blatant robberies that turned the sport into a punchline. UFC should thank King for turning people away from boxing and leaving a vacuum to be filled.
so if we're looking at it from a "true" boxing fan's perspective then don king is the ****. He ****s the fighters instead of the fans and makes all the great fights happen
He did pull of some good cards. The common knowledge that a Don King fight reffed by Richard Steele was a set up swung my vote downward.
