Yeah, it's a winnable but dangerous fight for Norton. Certainly not a walk in the park by any stretch of the imagination. Norton struggled with inferior boxers like Cobb and Garcia and his chin would certainly be susceptible to Patterson's quick hands and decent power.

Jefferies was absolutely an ATG. He was on the top of some people's HW ATG list for whole decades and was rated very highly.

I agree it depends on the rules and gloves for Johnson, but stylistically I think there's a chance Patterson lights him up like a Christmas tree. His slower paced, laid back cagey style attempting to reach and grab or parry could lead to disaster if Patterson leaps at him with an uppercut or hook, or opens up with a blazing combination.

Floyd had some eye-catching bursts from time to time but could also be rather timid and slow-paced (see his lack of consistent punch rate vs Ellis and Quarry for instance) so it would be interesting to see what happened with Jack once things settled down.

Floyd was a very good fighter BUT it would be shocking to see anything other than a slaughter against Tyson, Louis, Frazier etc FP would be fighting at 168lbs today… remember at the end of the day he was the guy who lost to freaking Ingo… as a human being he’s an ATG but a boxer? No, you would not learn to box watching Patterson he was an athletic very talented man but too runty for actual HW’s and the expected result happened against Ali and Liston, how he struggled against Chuvalo is also telling. In fantasy debates he should be pitted against Kovalev or Ward not Chisora as much as that hurts me lol.

Patterson;s chin makes him an enigma.

Id favor him over most non brutal punchers. He could outpoint the Heavyweight version of Gene Tunney, for example.

Id also favor him over Max Schmeling if he could train well, although Schmeiling had very good power. And over James Braddock.

Floyd would stand an excellent chance against any man under 200 pounds including 1955-56 Marciano. I'd also include Dempsey, Tunney, Schmeling, Braddock, Walcott, Charles, Spinks and the earlier, unjuiced Holyfield. He wasn't an ATG heavyweight but he might have been the best cruiser of them all.

Watching him fight Baer would be thrilling because Maxie could end it with one big right hand, but until that moment Floyd could overwhelm Baer with his speedy combinations.

I don't like him against the giants: he loses badly to Lewis and the two Klitschkos, but he beats Fury to a pulp. Prime Mike Tyson bombs him out. Liston was the worst matchup of them all, by far. Floyd would have stood a better chance against prime Louis but I imagine Joe would catch up to him at some point.

Voltaire once said that the Holy Roman Empire was neither holy, nor Roman, nor an empire. But he probably also said "I have the worst diarrhea!" because almost everyone has said that at some point. Especially you, and especially right now.
