What ATG Heavyweights could Ezzard Charles Beat.

Well he was already robbed against Marciano in the rematch. Aside from him I fancy he could have beaten Dempsey, Tunney, Marvin Hart and Jeffeies

He probably loses to Tyson and Lewis.

Douglass and Holyfield would be toss ups.

 

He will beat a lot of the heavyweight champs in history. Charles is a top 10 pound for pound of the greatest fighters ever.

 

Loses to Marcaino, Dempsey, Louis, Tyson, Liston, Foreman, and probably Frazier.

Has a shot against Holyfield, Tunney, Baer, Ali, Holmes, Patterson, Spinks, Quarry, and Lyle.

Probably beats Shevers, Norton, and a few other unreliables maybe.

 

Be tough against the super HWs, but lil Chris Byrd already proved it can be done

I can see him possibly beating Floyd Patterson, Gene Tunney, Bob Fitz, James Jeffries, Jess Willard, Max Schmeling, jimmy Ellis and max baer. Perhaps even marciano if ezzard were a few years younger. I wouldn’t favor him against many guys beyond Patterson’s time or at least not the “ great “ ones. While ezzard was a pound for pound great, I think he’d struggle against some of the larger modern greats.

 

I don't give Charles a lot of chances against great heavyweights, too small

 

On the basis of his first fight with Rocky,you would have to give a younger fresher Charles a chance against him,obviously he would not be favourite, but a lively outsider imo.ATG's hangs on who you think was an ATG at heavy?

Tunney doesn't break a sweat out-boxing him. And then, whenever he so feels like it, smokes Charles.

There's levels to this sport.

 

He also was incredibly aggressive, which got him caught. He was dropped by decent (not great) Light Heavyweights.

There are plenty of Charles' Heavyweight fights available. He was very exciting, and much more skilled than most his contemporaries across ALL weight divisions. That deserves respect. But there's a reason he's not remembered amongst the greatest Hw champions.
