I was thinking of getting a pair of Boxing boots for my Birthday in a few months and I was wondering what is the benefit that they give over a pair of trainers. Are they only neccessary for fighting?

Brit talk for sneakers/tennis shoes/gym shoes I think.

Yes, if you're going to train in boxing get them (or wrestling shoes, which afaik are nearly identical). They're extremely light with very thin bottoms, good for footwork especially.

    Hey Matty

Boxing shoes are great for footwork, they are a very lightweight shoe and it is easy to move around in them. You can get a solid pair of nikes for 40$ http://store.titleboxing.com/nike-lo-pro-boxing-shoe.html

Word of advice: If you train in them everyday they will get worn out pretty fast. Wear them sometimes to get used to them but keep your trainers as well. :thumbsup

Cheers Will, I train three days a week.

I haven't seen you on TT since I first joined, I go on every now and again but no one is on the chat box unfortunately.

Agree. The floor in my gym is especially rough so it eats shoes. I usually just wear running shoes but the last couple sessions before a fight I'll switch to a crummy old pair of boxing shoes just to get the feel of them back. Then I have a better pair that I only ever wear for fights.
