There are many repated threads, at least once a week for stripping Ward of his #2 P4P rating.

Suppose it was stripped from Ward and open.

Who has displayed the same level of elite skills against elite opponents to take the #2 below the #1 P4P, Floyd Mayweather?

the p4p list is mythical so I don't really understand.
I've never had ward as my #2. and I don't think I even have him in my top 3...

p4p should really be 1 person, the #1 spot for the best fighter in the sport. I guess us fans love these fictional rankings and fictional atg rankings.

these are all opinions which cannot be proven correct or incorrect

His status isn't getting stripped because he doesn't deserve it (when he doesn't really anyway, consensus top 10 yeah- but there are guy's out there just as talented) - it's getting stripped because he's inactive for over a year.

It's been over 2 years since his last meaningful fight anyway, and almost three since his last top 5 ranked SMW win.

He's de facto retired, that's why he's getting dropped.

Gonzalez - has been a dominant 3 weight world champion and has beaten everyone in style and great entertainment value

Pacquio - one punch doesn't transform you from p4p number 1 to no hoper, also Bradley was considered top 3 p4p by many and Manny beat him twice

Wlad - a victim of his own success and has been incredibly dominant for 10 years

although they will be very reluctant to drop him as number 2 as theres no americans to take his place as number 2. And with Floyd soon to retire im sure they aren't keen on a foreign number 1

Thanks for responding, but since you don't believe in P4P ratings and have no opinion on the subject, exactly why are you in this thread?:huh

    This is the right answer.

The question wasn't why he is being dropped.

    :good

My point was he will be dropped for inactivity- and deserves to be. He doesn't deserve to be ranked p4p #2 off beating Froch 3 years ago.

Well I guess the Ring will promote who ever is p4p #3 in their joke rankings (Which will hilariously be Wlad).

    Who deserves it most?

Gonzalez imo - he already deserves to be ranked above Ward.

    P4P is hypothetical.
It's meaning varies depending on the ranker, and their subjective viewpoint.
I think most ranker such as RING and Boxing rec use points systems to derive their rankings along with quality of opposition defeated.

As example, Vlad's level of opposition has been far below that of Ward's, and JMM may deserve #2 more than Pac.

    Boxrec use a points system.

The Ring use a panel of 'experts'.

It's an entirely points based ranking, no human, just one big ass calculation.

    It means arse all.

Anyone who actually fights. Pacquiao will likely take the spot post-Algieri.
