What boxer got you into boxing and why.....

Tyson for me. I saw him on some obscure ITV boxing show when he was 17/18 and he looked supernatural. He had mostly 1st round knockouts at that point and he was truly frightening, especially to this 13 year old boy.

 

My dad is a big boxing fan, I just followed in his footsteps, I still remember him letting me stay up to watch Tyson - Bruno 1, under the condition I never told my mom, as it was on way past my bedtime :yep

 

Vague memories of Hagler, Hearns & Leonard and was never that much of a fan of Bruno - too much of the plucky-brit symdrome. So I guess it was Mike Tyson and Tyson-Berbick which was really memorable. Then Benn, Eubank & Watson came along and I was hooked.

 

Yes, yes...Sibson for me also, also Minter and bit later Pat Cowdell (my home town)...man Sibson was a hell of a fighter...and of course Bruno (easy to forget just how popular Frank was)

i remember seeing wee walter winning the world title and seeing both of king ken buchanan's fights with laguna.

 

I think that you slightly edge the age stakes...I was watching the fight in my dressing gown with a glass of milk, you had just piled in from the pub

Watching Benn vs Eubank with my old man. Heart, Skill, Power and fitness. Boxing is impossible to beat. It has every facet any other sport has, but on so many more levels. That was the day I learnt about it, and Ive remembered it still.

yeah me too, him and mccullough,collins, eubank, and benn all got me into boxing back in the mid nineties when i was a bout 8 or 9...

Its actually getting a little bit of traction in the papers, but not a lot: Basically the only boxers people can name are Green/Mundine and Tszyu and Fenech. People really into their sports might know Kats and Vic, but boxing's not really a mainstream sport here, but there's a few pubs around that have the fights on.
