What boxers are consistantly fighting Titlist/Champs

Another Mayweather thread I know it's been overrun with these recently but simple question. We always hear about who Mayweather is or isn't fighting.

Are there any boxers currently that fight champs and title holders as often as Mayweather. To put it in persepective since fighting Baldomir in 06 for the Undisputed WW Title the only non-titlist he's fought since is the upcoming rematch with Maidana and Marcos lost his title in the previous bout.

 

I don't consider everyone with a belt a champion to me there's a distinct difference between say a Thurman Interim WBA WW Titlist and a Porter IBF WW Champ which is why I said both in the title. And exactly what you said Guerrero was a Titlist. Hatton was a Champ and Undisputed at that Undisputed champs from neighboring division's fighting is nothing new a better choice would be Marquez who i believe was Lineal champ at LW. The Judah thing is just politics everyone knew who the man was but that's spot on.

I guess a better way to phrase the question would be what fighters have defeated or faced the most reigning champs/titlist in recent times.

 

I know those four have more title defense's longer careers yet Mayweather has defeated more Title Holders, I don't know if title defense's alone are the best way to view it. Look at guys like GGG or Garcia who have title's and can't/don't consistently fight top contenders in their defense's. I get the Ortiz thing but you can't control that at the time it was 1/2 Mayweather/Pacquiao #3 was Ortiz he turned out to be a flop hindsight is 20/20.

 

Cotto has a hell of a resume but I wouldn't put him anywhere near this convo Cotto has only beaten 2/3* title holders in his entire career Clottey, Foreman, & Martinez.

 

I agree but not all situations are the same take Garcia-Salka/Herrera for example. More often than not 3/4 title holders are top 3/4 of the division. Take WW for example Mayweather, Pacquiao, & Porter hold the four title's and are clearly in the top 3/4 at WW. When you have the title a lot of guys milk there defense's look at any WBO mandatory. Consistantly fighting the actual Champs your opening yourself up to face upper level comp

 

Cotto has a great resume but the only title holders he's fought or beat were the three I mentioned. Mosley wasn't a champ and was coming off some bad showings a few years earlier, Margarito & Pacquiao fought for Cotto's title. I give Cotto a little slack though intil 08 every WW title was held by Mayweather so he couldn't fight that many titlist there. Even in that situation though the guys with the title's Mayweather (WBC, WBA, IBF) and the WBO champ which changed hands 3 times in 4 fights were considered the best in the division.

For the talk of how titles don't mean anything who fought tougher comp the guy who beats Rubio, Macklin, and Stevens back to back or the guy who beats Quillin, GGG , & Cotto back to back

@K.O.KIDD both of those fighters have a great list of wins there but I don't mean former or future champs I mean bonifide champs. I know guys like Vatli/Wald won't be up there because they have held every belt in there division for decades.

But what fighters are fighting the most reigning/current title holding Champs.

Some cases like thoses where there's a long string of dominance they might already have most title's. Take Hopkins he was the Undisputed MW Champ and won the WBC/WBA/WBO/IBF Title's that's 3 current Champs beaten in that span alone.(Holmes WBC/Trinidad WBA/Hoya WBO, further along you have Pascal WBC LHW,Cloud IBF LHW...)

Within 2/3 years Mayweather unified two division beating 5 regining Champs/Titlist (Ortiz WBC WW, Maidana WBA WW, Guerrero WBC Titlist, Cotto WBA JMW, Alvarez WBC/WBA unified JMW)ect...
