What boxers did Rocky Marciano consciously and deliberately duck, if any?

You should be decent to people.
Whether in politics or life in general there is a disease of hate & contempt where people are mistreated & insulted if they disagree wiith others.

That includes mockery & the intolerance of blocking someone just because you cannot handle polite opinions you differ with.

Also you are wrong-in both sense-to misrepresent the sizes of the 3 men who were best when Marciano fought them.
You also are false on his weight-opting for the lightest you can find is no more faiir than using well under 200 for Ali, 201 for Tua, or a host of more modern fighters by taking their lightest weights.

Moore was literally 28 lbs. more than you quoted when they fought-so that representation is particulrly egregious.
These things greatly undermine your credibility.

By the way, I think the best AJ would likely beat all three.
But flaming & insulting & hating on all who share a different opinion is immature & brings down any forum such petty cruelty is propogated on.

Larry Holmes nominated Carl Williams as his likely successor.

Those are all pretty middle of the road, lesser contenders. Rocky beat better. It is comical that you don't understand that.

All #1 contenders except Cockell, who was #2, That is absolutely setting a standard for champions.

Baker is not in the conversation. He was light-hitting and oft beaten.

Well, you have to put him in the conversation whether you like it or not. He was the top contender having beaten Layne 3 times and Valdes twice. He was also involved in the eliminators after Marciano retired, so it's not an option. When he started out he actually was a banger and was once compared to a young Joe Louis. But bad hands curtailed this. They wouldn't break but swelled severely and fortunately he was able to alter his style by throwing combinations in bunches and utilizing his natural heft instead of throwing with a lot of pop. Again, totally viable top contender whom Weill avoided. I will say in Rocky's defense though, that I feel he would have beaten both Baker and Valdes.

That was a far more viable pick. I felt Williams beat Holmes in their contest.

He is put into the conversation falsely because he was 6'2". He was a very light hitting guy who never commanded the ranking or had the backing to be in that mix, unlike Valdez who was the #1 contender.

It's a strange wrinkle that, although 5 of Marciano's challengers were ranked #1 when he fought them, only 3 (Walcott, Charles 2 and Moore) were #1 when he signed to face them. And the first of those was a contractually required rematch so he doesn't really get points for it.

Marciano "retired" a lot of boxers. The number of boxers who have the last fight in their career against Rocky Marciano is significant. I don't know exactly what that number is, and here's something that could be investigated. I don't think he was afraid, and he didn't avoid anyone as an opponent.

I'm not sure I understand "in the conversation falsely" or "unlike Valdes who was the #1 contender." You are aware Baker was the top contender having beaten Valdes twice, correct?

Danny was kind of obnoxious on The Partridge Family but he beat up Greg Brady and Donny Osmond in boxing. I don’t know if the Rock ducked him, but he sure didn’t fight him.

I don't recall ever saying that I thought Weill was relaxed about putting Marciano in with Valdes, or that the latter was mediocre. But it is comical - a real knee-slapper!

The only two missing on his resume would have been Baker and Nino. He almost fought Baker before he retired. Wish he did would have been a fun fight and I think Marciano beats him badly. Marciano didn’t think Baker or Valdez (both of whom were good contenders but had racked up losses galore by the time Marciano was looking for a tough contender). Moore was perfect because he cleaned out the division for him and made himself the logical opponent. I don’t think either were logical threats to Marciano at the time. Both were skilled and fought everyone (will almost always have losses if fighting the best often). His team didn’t think they worthy and Marciano didn’t want to give Weill anymore money. For those thinking Liston and Patterson were threats you’re completely uninformed. They weren’t on the HW scene radar till a couple years after he retired.
