Every boxer uses resistance training, but not every boxer lifts weights.

Get out of here! MOST boxers use weights. Obviously in varying degree`s. You should try it instead of being so blinkered! You`ll find it certainly helps.

all Kronk fighters and Dundee fighters used no weights just medicine balls

roach dosent use alot of weights either with his fighters

also i have saw mayweather do weights on 24/7 but if a guy was in a gym with him and he didnt lift it wouldnt surprise me

from what i have seen of Oscars routines he didnt lift weights but he still could have.

i doubt he lifted with Mayweather or Roach as they generally dont let fighters lift.

    RICKY HATTON 2008

Each workout lasts 20 minutes, while each set consists of 10 repetitions…
    MONDAY

    Standing calf raise machine

Dip your shoulders under the pneumatic pads resting on either shoulder then step onto the raised platform, keeping your back straight. Now, dangling your heels over the step, push up onto your tiptoes, then slowly lower your bodyweight down.

    Leg press machine

Sat beneath the slanted machine at a daunting 45ยบ angle, slowly draw the weight towards your backside, feel like your quads might explode then power the heft up without snapping your spine.

    TUESDAY

    Incline chest press machine

With your spine pressed flat against the cushioned padding, push the weight forward through its natural motion, feel your man boobs tremble, then slowly release the weight back down.

    Preacher curls

Sit in this biceps-conditioning contraption, rest your elbows on the pads and reach for the weighted bar in front of you. Using your elbows for leverage, blast the weight up, tense at the top for a better pump, then lower the weight down.

    WEDNESDAY

    No weights

    THURSDAY

    Lat pulldowns

Sit down on that seated machine where you pull the weight down towards you, while keeping your spine aligned. Slowly draw the weight using your back muscles (or lats) then raise the bar to its original position.

    Hamstring curls

Lying on this machine with your face down, slide your calves under the bar and then pump it up so your ankles come within five inches of your backside, then lower back down.

    FRIDAY

    Shoulder press machine

Sit with a handle resting above either shoulder, power the weight up, don’t fully extend, then lower it down. Absent-mindedly ogle an office girl having an asthma attack on an elliptical trainer nearby.

    Triceps pulldown

Stand next to a cable machine with a straight bar dangling in front of your stomach. Grab the bar at either end and, keeping your elbows locked by your sides, pump the weight down towards your groin while ensuring your back’s straight. Then slowly raise the bar up.

    Training

You cannot reinvent the wheel, the only way to make yourself stronger is to lift weights to failure. The old myths in boxing that weights make you slow are not true. When the muscle is stronger, when it contacts it will make you punch faster and stronger. Plus this strength will help you in close. If you need any proof of this just ask Billy Graham or any of the boxers I work with.

You need to split your weight training up and must never forget this is to supplement your boxing training and you need to get your weights done in about 20 minutes.

Monday - Quads (front thighs)& calves
    3 x 10 leg extensions
    3 x 10 leg press

    3 x 10 standing calf raises
    2 x 10 seated calf raises

    Tuesday - Chest & biceps
    3x 10 flying
    3 x 10 bench press
    2 x 10 incline bench press

    3 x 10 standing barbell curls

    Thursday - Back & hamstrings
3 x 10 close grip pull downs to the front
3 x 10 pull downs behind the neck
    3 x 10 Rowing (cable or dumbbells)
    1 x 10 dumbbell shrugs

    3 x 10 lying hamstring curls
    1 x 10 stiff leg deadlift

    Friday - Shoulders & triceps
    3 x 10 side lateral raises
    3 x 10 shoulder press
    3 x 10 rear delt

    3 x 10 triceps pushdowns or presses

Always remember to warm up correctly and cool down.

Your body is 70% water the very nature of your training makes you sweat a lot. You need to drink at least 2-3 litres of water every day.

Do not think water will make you put weight on. The more you drink the more you wil urinate and sweat, getting rid of all the toxins in your body.

That may be the worst routine I've ever seen for a pro boxer. Bicep curls? Machines? Lifting till failure? WTF? :?

Common misperception. Im not a blown up heavy in the slightest. I only lift once a week if that. And my weight is bang on 17 stone and hasnt fluctuated from that in 2 years. Im not on ANY supplments whatsoever apart from Cod liver oil and multi vitamins. Thats a solid heavy right thuuur pee wee! :yep
