Other than this...

Andre Berto - In Temeculah before the Willliams-Quintana I fight. He and his younger brother (football player at San Fran Univ.) ate breakfast with all of the Aiken folks the morning of the fight. He and Paul are actually pretty cool with each other, despite the recent yapping. Andre is really a cool guy who is very humble.

Antonio Margarito - At the weigh-in on Santa Monica Pier, he was actually a little distant and quiet, but after the weigh-in everyone went to some restaurant HBO had for the camps to eat at, and he and his people were very cordial. Honestly, he and Williams have a lot of respect for each other as fighters, which is why I was so disappointed in his post-fight comments.

Quintana - after the KO. He was really a gracious guy, and I almost felt kinda bad for him that night, because he and his folks were really nice before during and after each of those fights.

Vernon Forrest - We threw a party for him at the Julian Smith in Augusta, GA after he won the first belt years ago

Arreolas - He's a funny dude! He was probably one of the funniest of all these boxers. He and his people talk a lotta ****, but you can tell it's all in fun! I told him "You need to get your big ass outta that ring and try out for the Oakland Raiders" His homeboy interrupted and said "That's too much practicing!"

Mora - After he beat Vernon, right after the Quintana II fight. He was at the little club thing in the Middle of the Mall at the Casino. Also a funny dude. I brought Paul over there to take pictures with him and he was like "Damn Paul, you almost cost me my fight! I didn't have a chance to warm up before it was time to get my ass out there!"

Holyfield - Believe it or not, at a nightclub in Miami. I was like "Damn Dude you ain't as big as you look in TV!" He just laughed and shook my hand.

ALI - at the DNC Convention in Denver this year. No pics allowed where he was.


But of all the fighters, I agree with an earlier poster. I wanna hang out with Mayorga. Maybe at a Strip Club along with Luke, Micheal Irvin, and Pac Man Jones...

I got to tell Marvin Hagler that he got screwed in the Leonard fight in the Men's room at the Mandalay in 1999. I met and schmoozed with Al Bernstein and Vinny Paz at the Hilton when Duran fought Joppy. I got to meet Duran and Roger Mayweather, and Jack Mosley last year, and I have met Tapia before. I have also met Michael Buffer and I got to shake hands with and Congratulate Referree Richard Steele on his great decision in the first Chavez-Taylor fight.

I met Lightning Lonnie Smith getting off the subway a few weeks from Gleason's Gym in Brooklyn.

 

Awesome list except for DLH. I'd rather meet Liberace than him.

Those I would LIKE to meet?

1. James "Lights out" Toney. 14 years ago, I made a pilgrimage to watch my idol fight live on CBS at the Rio in Vegas, "RUMBLE AT THE RIO" baby, his tune up for the RJJ Superfight.

2. Tito Trinidad. To thank him for fouling up Oscar's undefeated streak.

3. Larry "The EASTON ASSASSIN" Holmes, so he could sign my "Against the Odds" hardback.

4. The Pretty Boy, so I could thank him on behalf of all Mankind, for Cinco de Mayweather.

5. Jermain "Drain the Main Vein" Taylor, to thank him for beating Hoke twice.

I also met Oliver McCall in Vegas, big ass MOFO. On thst same trip, at the Mandalay Bay the Friday before the fight, I pushed the door to the elevator, and theres Henry Akinwande, who looked shocked when I called his name.... And for the Cory Spinks-MAG fight, I walked into Larry Donald, who seemed surprised I recognized him.

 

I've posted this several times but I love to tell this story over and over.
Back in 1995 I met George Foreman while he was still HW Champ. As a kid he was my idol. I guess I expected him to be 12 feet tall 450lbs of muscle but was suprised to see he wasn't much bigger than me. Don't get me wrong, I ain't sayin I'm anywhere near his league lol. When I shook his hand I thought to myself "Damn,this is the hand that destroyed Joe Frazier and Ken Norton!
He was a Helluva nice guy and carried himself like a true Champion!
