What boxers you see becoming great trainers?

The ones who are true gym rats, ie Hopkins,Floyd,Ward.

Floyd and jmm would be great IMO...

 

IMO JMM, Hopkins, Ward, Floyd, Tyson and Lennox have the attributes to be great trainers.

 

A brilliant surprise choice by a manager or promoter would be no-nonsense Layla McCarter --- no better boxer or strategizer the game.

When I think of this question, I always think of guys who came up the hard way in the sport and never really had things given to them. Then I think of guys who you can imagine staying around the sport after they are done. So I think of guys like:

Tim Bradley
Austin Trout
M. Alvarado

My surprise pick would be Zab Judah. That's a guy with alot of stories and wisdom he could pass along to a young fighter about the dos and dont's of boxing both inside and outside of the ring.

 

i think malignaggi would make a good trainer, he has done great considering his physical limitations and he strikes me as a real smart guy who would be able to see tha big picture and put together a good plan for a fighters training camp.

 

Any real genuine students of the game who's passion for the sport continues after they retire.

You cant really say but I'm with you. Benard Hopkins would make one hell of a coach!

Hard to say really. The best footballers don't make the best managers normally, same with boxing trainers.

 

I tend to think anyone who is a truly great fighter, and/or made a ton of money wouldn't make a great trainer. So guys like Hopkins, Mayweather, and Marquez are out.
