I have "The Boxing Register" editions 3 and 4, "My View From the Corner" by Angelo Dundee, "No Man Stands Alone" by Barney Ross, "The Sweet Science Goes Sour", "Tunney", "The Holyfield Way" (terrible book), "Braddock", "Boxing's Greatest Fighters" (2006 version), "Atlas: A boys struggle to become a man", "Facing Tyson", "Facing Ali", "Unforgivable Blackness", "Kings of the Ring: The heavyweight champions", "Against All Odds", "Welcome to the Big Time" and a few more that I can't remember. What do you have?

I just started reading durans book, (hands of stone) bout 80 pages in what agreat read the triump over the torment which he had growing up! brings shivers down my spine reading it

just finished joe calzaghes book as well (no ordinary Joe) didnt find it any good at all, its like reading a newspaper could of got all those stories from there! never felt that connection which durans book has, i found the book boring and dull, only one story which stood out to be good was when he met tyson n his dad told tyson to smile more!

Ive got quite a lot, my fave might still be Burley's though, so great how the author did that one. Duran's i have aswell, and i just dont think the book itself is quite on the level of 'The Life and Hard Times of an Uncrowned Champion' (Burley's book) it really is something, i recommend it to all. Alot of my books are the ones like, 'Best fighters of the century', very good one it is that. And 'Best of the last 50 years' aswell. I have McGuigan's book and am currently reading Archie's 'Aging warrior'. Then there's a pile of stuff that are decent also.

Still think i enjoyed Burley's the best though.

Too many to list, but some of my favorites:

    The Fight - Norman Mailer
The Sweet Science (I think that's the title) - AJ Leibling
    Ghosts of Manila
    Ali, his life and times
Boxing Is My Sanctuary - Ted Sares (great book I discovered from this site)
Good book about Sonny Liston, name escapes me right now
    Cinderella Man
    Boxing's Greatest Fighter's - Bert Randolph Sugar

Its crazy, ive got plenty and none of yours!! I like Bert Sugar as a writer and a very good story-teller, but his lists i cant say are very good, just my opinion. For real insightful lists i must say ESB Classic is the best place!!

Teeto, I agree about Sugar. His lists are more for wow factor or I don't know, maybe he takes his favoritism a little far. But he's colorful, truly loves the sport, and shows great respect for the fighters.

My all-time favorite is 'The Fight' by Norman Mailer, which covers Ali - Foreman (my apologies if I'm stating the obvious there). It's an enjoyable read, almost poetic sometimes, and it just captures the time really good. I was a young kid back then, but the book felt like the early 70's to me. Mailer was a little "out there", but I love the book.

I'm not finished with 'Boxing is My Sanctuary' yet, but it's quickly rising up my favorites list. Great stories with encyclopedic type detail. Lots of fighters I'd forgotten about. Very enjoyable book.

It was a terrible book. It was nothing but 200 some pages of nuthugging and clear bias. I wasn't able to read the whole thing, so I skipped to the end to see how he concluded, and I almost threw up. Here was the ending:

"I have accumulated the information over many years, but I organized it and wrote it down last night."

"I really appreciate you doing this for me," he (Evander) said looking up from the document.

    "What are friends for?"

    We both smiled broadly.
There was no doubt in my mind that Evander realized that whatever my past advice-right or wrong-had been, it had come from a true friend. We talked about our families and all that was going on in our lives and about sports and music and movies, and I felt like something that had been broken was fixed.
As the conversation waned and the lunch meeting came to an end, I felt I had to say one more thing.

"Evander, I have one more idea" I (James J. Thomas II) said.

He looked at me and waited for me to continue.

"I think I have a great way for you to finish on top would be to win back your license, call a press conference the next day, and annouce that now the decision is yours to make, you have decided to retire."

    Evander smiled warmly.

"You never give up, do you?" he said shaking his head.

I smiled and looked at him.

    "I learned it from you."

    ....:barf
